Hey, well done on starting the switch!! Cheap beef mince tends to have a high fat content (usually, the cheaper the meat the more fat content it has) so you could try that. The fat contents obviously varies a lot depending on the cut...when you are buying your meats look out for the one that are marbled with fat. Another good fatty meat is lamb... you could try him on a lamb mince.
You could of course increase the amount of food he is actually getting, if you don't think he's getting enough.

I use chicken breast and thighs with the skin on, chop them up and blend them up into a chicken paste If you boy is happy to eat meat lamb is really good for getting weight on. Switching to raw will really help him out.

Absolute best is duck or goose if they'll eat it. Can't think of a greasier commercial meat. If you're feeding from the grocer chances are if you're feeding any of the chicken or turkey minces they're really lean. You want to feed fat and skin to make for a fatter fuzz. They should be putting on the weight soon. I know that my guys are starting to pack on the flub (except Minion who is confused , he thinks he's a fuzz from down under I guess and has his seasons switched ) ciao

Why are you trying to fatten them up? Just curious Some ferrets are naturally skinny. I tried to no end to fatten up pixie (whippet body style). No luck. I've now accepted she will always look too skinny for her own good

Was he chunky as a kit and now he's an adult? The body type of a kit is just that....a kit. What they become once they hit their adult change is what they will become. Minion was a roly poly kit (to the point I was concerned, his legs were getting short ;D). He's now a much leaner, more mobile little fuzz (with longer legs ;D ;D). ciao

oh no no this was last year! he was 2 when he was all chunky and now he's 3! i guess i should leave his weight alone. i dont want him getting TOO fat but it would be nice if he gained a little.

Post some pics, we will help if we can. Some ferrets are just that long and lean. They're usually more active, into more trouble and usually the smarter ones (it may be that they're just able to get around better than our more pudgy wee ones ) It seems that over here we have a tendency to keep our wee ones a bit on the ....hmmm....supersized models ;D ;D ciao

Well the summer is the time for heavy weight loss. Depending on where your located, its about time for them to naturally start gaining weight. It hasnt happened quite yet here in Florida. The coats are in the midst of shedding and Trixie (already a heavy set girl) has gained a good amount of weight just because of the increase in appetites. Pixie has not begun any weight gain and Dixie (transitioning from kit -> adult) is kinda confused (like a lot of winter born fuzzes). The best advice to help with weight gain is add extra chicken skin & fatty beef cuts often (mine all love fatty beef and adore chicken skin nearly daily) and wait and see Good luck! <3
