My ferret Dutzi is always hiding, jumping over the ferret barriers and always worrying me. I put a bell on her, but when she's curled up somewhere and sleeping, it's not ringing. I thought about how my phone has a feature that allows me to make it beep if I can't find it, and I thought about key finders. I was wondering if anyone has tried such a device on their ferret- it's a device you attach to your keys/remote/wallet or other thing you frequently misplace, you press a button and the thing in question beeps. I am thinking about getting one of these to attach to my adventurous little Dutzi.
Any thoughts?

Wow that's a great idea! My only concern would be the size of the key finder compared to the ferret. I've never actually had one so I'm not sure how large/heavy they are. A ferret might not appreciate something too large around their neck

I worry about attaching anything to a ferret, they get places they shouldn't and could hang or injure themselves pretty easily. I've had a few scares with sleeping ferrets over the years, but they always turn up eventually. I wouild invest in better ferret barriers instead, what are you using right now?

Haha yeah definitely :-)
Kinda funny that the title of the thread is ferret finder - same name as the collar.
Do your ferrets respond to squeaky toys? That's why I use to round my girls up.

I am looking at these: I thought the one for the keys or the one for the sunglasses seems the smallest. yes, she always turns up, but she's gotten under the foundation of the house, in between the walls and the house, and generally worried me to distraction. And when I can't find her and I have to go to work, I get frantic. www.findonefindall.com/indexga.htm?gclid=CJW76MeigacCFUGo4AodeC_DeQ

The barriers I use now are pieces of wood I slide in the doorways, she's the only one that can jump over them. Any higher, and it would be a person barrier too!

Man, for the price of that collar, I could just buy another ferret!
(joke) My Dutzi is priceless.
Also, she's one of my two non-deaf ferrets, but she knows I look for her and I think it's become a game for her.

How would you attach it to her? Like Blue said, a safety release is really important to make sure they don't get stuck on something.

When she really wants to, she can wiggle out of her harness, though she generally doesn't.
I would attach it to her harness.

Did the UK Heather come across....siggy...lorelie? She hunts with her ferrets. They use GPS locators. I don't know the costs but it's specifically created for our little imps ciao

No, she hasn't yet. I'm hoping when breeding season comes back around that she will, though! She'll have the message in her inbox as well.
