New Question-
I went to petsmart (we have two stores and I went to both) and neither of them had the All Living Things Luxury Ferret home but I was looking at the dimentions of it on petsmart.com and I didnt realize this earilier but, it's actually smaller than the cage I have right now. We DID see the FN 142 in one of the local petsmarts (the other one had the FN 182 which was more expensive than the 142 which I thought was odd, and I don't like it anyway) but I still don't feel comfortable with him spending that kinda money given all the recent issues with our financial situation that we are still attempting to recover from.
I was thinking more and (this may be a dumb question, but bare in mind I've never had an FN so I have to ask) you can get the FN 141 and then get another one later (im thinking xmas) and put them together to make a 142, right?
I was also thinkg of maybe getting something along the lines of (if I can even get something like this site-to-store ordered.. I'm not positive. I thought everything could be shipped site to store but some items have a big icon and some don't)
www.walmart.com/ip/Midwest-Pets-Guinea-Habitat-PLUS/14317992
I can't map out the dimensions of that at the moment but the one reason I'm worried about 141 (if I can build onto it) is it isn't multi-level, which is what they are used to. This seems like it'd be a good size so I thought, even though it wont be the same space vertically, it seems like they'll have a good amount of space to move around horizontally- plus it closes on the top and has its own cover on the bottom which is pretty neat- right? (And then I was thinking since its so much less than what he was planning to spend we could save the difference and then that + xmas money and I could hopefully get an FN)
So my Mom, Sister and fiancee were planning to get me an FN 142 for my birthday because Kahlua and Mojitos cage is.. well.. a pathetic disaster at this point. Well, there was a big family fight a few weeks ago and now my sister and mom arent talking to me. Well last night my fiancee said he still wants to get me an FN 142 and wanted to know how much it was, I told him i think around 250 and that I dont want him spending that kind of money.. He keeps tryna tell me its okay but I know we do not have that $ atm but I know he will have to barrow it and I dont feel comfortable with that. Not to mention s&h fees... (no stores by us carry them, TTFR was selling one but i dont think she is anymore) and even if he did get it, I have no where to have it shipped to. Its to big to come to the apartment and as I said my parents arent talking to me. I am so mad, I was so close to getting it!!
So now I am trying to find something a little more do-able. I do want him to get me a cage because I seriously desprately need one... but I want something I know we can afford that we can get in one of the pet stores by us... (PetCo and PetSmart, I dont think the local pet stores sell anything decent)
I think around $100-150 would be ideal but maybe 200 would be doable too- I currently have have that purple black and green nightmare (i forget what its called) Oops I mean the Super Pet Multi-Floor Ferret Home.
www.petco.com/product/15487/Super-Pet-Multi-Floor-Ferret-Home.aspx
Its impossible to clean thoroughly and no matter how many times i try to put the shelves in at 'even' spaces- it always looks weird. Plus mine is the one that Kahlua came with, her previous owners didnt take care of it so its stained and chewed on. Its just.. ugh.
Can anyone recommend something spacious that has doors that open like the FN? All the ones I'm finding have fully mesh shelves or a few "key"/important shelves that are mesh... WHY would they do that btw? I dont understand.
This one doesn't look too bad, the door is small but it does have that super nice pull out bottom for easy cleaning. Does anyone know why the heck it says: "The small wire spacing and solid metal ramps and platforms make this an ideal cage for rats and chinchillas, as well as baby ferrets." -- why only baby ferrets??

Forgot to mention that it says "The wind-bell lock, on the bottom of the cage, prevents pets from pushing out the tray if the cage is used without the grille."

At first glance I really dont like the doors cuz it looks like i'd have the same cleaning problem but according to one of the reviews there are bigger doors on the side so I looked closer and I think I see what the reviewer was talking about... doesnt look half bad
Just noticed that according to the pestmart webpage the MIDWEST Ferret Nation Double Unit Home with Stand should be sold instore for $219... last time I checked they didnt have it, maybe they will- 219 is kinda high though. I will have to check it out.... Incase they still dont have them I'd still love opinions on the others
