lol pics of the Sandy Pair just for you... Sorcha saying whats that black square thing in your hand mom?? checking me out Ash having a tickle Ash again... Sorcha exploring the crinkly tube nice look at her color variations None of the gang have their winter coats yet as we're just at the end of an indian summer... Cold temps are setting in now though so i'll grab some more pics in a couple weeks and we'll see some real polar bears. here are a couple of the other "couple" Meet Cieran . A frisky little lad.. sweet as a cookie but doesn't wanna sit still so mum can get a look at his face with the camera! Avery stocky lad as his breeding will show His breeders have done a lovely job of working with the Hybrid strain to get a fabulous temperament while maintaining the color and conformation of his more wild heritage and i'm thrilled to have him in our business! such a gorgeous dark coat, his undercoat is more a grey than cream which is a trait of the eu that has been passed down his line Cieara and Cieran cuddled up in the late summer sunshine they just had a mad 20 min digging and playing in the new bedding before sacking out in the sunshine with Sorcha Cieara and Ash in the summer sunshine watching the dog who just ran past chasing a cat.. oops... Nice face shot of Cieara. She is a bit more of a livewire than her buddy Cieran, she wasnt handled much as a young kit but has come on leaps and bounds since coming to live with me. Still has a bit of a nip during play time but its a cheeky nip and dash like chase me, and she responds well to a sharp.. Ah ah ah! She is more likely to develop a very light mask like her mum had ... just a shadow spreading down from the whiter ear markings. Cieara .... another nice compact body shape very powerful, nice and dark and sharp as a tack! she's gonna pass on some fabulously strong and healthy genes and i'm thinking i best invest in plasters she strikes me as one who might be snappy with kits... we'll see!

I wish I was in the UK or US right now! I so want one of your kits but I'm way too far away (Aus). And i can't believe you live in devon! My grandma lives there. I've been there but personally i find the UK boring lol . anyway i think you would really make some sales in the US if you made yourself known

Thanks so much !
I grew up in Washington State in the USA so i'm finding the UK ... the same temp lol but a bit .. small to me lol still very pretty in this neck of the woods if you're into old castles and the moors..
I'm hoping to get my name out there... i need to book 10 solid before i can actually DO this.. with a £1300 shipping fee... never mind raising these kits and finding homes for any others etc etc etc...
i need to be able to spread that out enough for each owner to feel they are getting their money's worth ...
This is why i'm putting together the site.. but then what? how do i get myself out there an convince people to take a chance with me?

Looks good....I think I'm only getting half the page to load but I'm going to try later (my internet is acting up and I've been having difficulties since my provider blew up their satelite ) Seems to load quickly and is an easy read. Like I said I'm going to try later and see if it's the page or just my computer ciao

The pages to take a little while to load for me, but again- may be my computer. It's not the fastest. But other than the page being a bit large(have to scroll side to side a wee bit) it's looking really good! And I love the fact you've got a link to the nesting cam I'm going to post the link to your site in our breeders section

Thanks Sherry.. and someone has already mentioned that the page layout is a bit big.. so i'll go back into the program and see if i can put it on an auto adjust...
I HOPE its just your pc making the pages load slowly, i tried to keep Most of the pages not too image intensive ... and they load quick and fine on my laptop with the worlds slowest internet ( obviously not as slow as some lol ) but i'll see if there is anything i can do to help that too...
Is there anything that isn't clear? If you were looking for a kit..is the info there that you need?

i went in and tweeked it a bit to load to your size instead of a constant size
only problem is if you have a really small screen it might make the writing too small.. but.. hopefully if thats the case you know that anyways and know how to enlarge it lol
glad its loading now.. is there anything i'm missing?

It looks great. Although I am maxed out with fuzzies right now 2 needing medical care I would like to post your site on my facebook page and let people know there will be english kits availiable this fall. Onlu thing I would add to your site is photos of the nursery where the kits will be raised. I know you will be having the cam on them but people like to see photos as well.
How many more do you need till 10 I know you have one spoken for.

Hope your idea pans out Lorelei! Would love to see natural breeders show their stock and how natural ways can benefit the ferret world! With my rinky dink payscale, I doubt I'll get to the Buckeye Bash - but one never knows and its still a ways off.
Curious about the different approaches to ADV, Rabies and international travel of ferrets. You mentioned the CDC and Customs isn't aware of special requirements - but youmay want to triple check that, as well as check with State offices, possibly even townships. Each municipality in the U.S. has varying rules regarding pets. Pretty much across the board most states DO require rabies vaccinations andproof of that needs to be from a veterinarian. Now the question remains too, will the U.S. recognize a rabies vaccine administered by an out of country vet? dig deep for your answers. It would be a shame to come all this way only to end up with your animals stuck in quarantine. The internet is a great source so look up the Statutes for the state and county where you will be staying as well as your port of landing if you aren't flying in directly.
Funny, but I just visited your site yesterday before even reading this thread! The ferret cam wasn't working then, it is now! YAY!
Looking at your "sandy" colored ferrets they appear to me more along the lines of what the AFA describes as Chocolate, maybe even Cinnamon, but not really a Champagne. It may simply be photo resolution and variance of monitor rendering too - so it would be a good idea to take multiple shots in different lights to be sure to give the best views. Because ferrets coats will change according to season it would be a good idea too, to label the date or season on the photo.
Reading the thread were comments about avoiding dilutes - Sandies/ Champagnes/ Chocolates would be considered dilutes wouldn't they? So if health issues are supposedly tied more to the dilutes - why breed these colors?
I've seen the connection firsthand regarding high white markings & neural crest disorders so avoiding marked, bibbed, mitts, blazes etc makes sense. But it gets a bit confusing if breeding continues to produce Albinos. Albinos of any animal are pretty much as dilute as your ever gonna get.
Then again I see a huge trend towards breeding for exceptionally dark ferrets which has meant bringing in polecat blood. This makes me wonder if we aren't moving away from domesticity and breeding back in the "wild". While this may offer a bit more vigor - what is it doing for the temperament? If the newer generations have more "wild"blood - how will that affect them when subjected to the domestic confines? Wouldn't these domestic stresses put them right back in the same boat as typical supposedly "inferior" farmed ferrets?
Reading information from Bob Church - he discovered that hybrid/feral ferrets caught and then subjected to typical caged care and typical ferret food ended up losing their hybrid/feral vigor ony to suffer the same problems as regular ferrets.
So much of the farm ferret breeding is closed to public scrutiny - how do we know there is inbreeding going on? so much of the health of an animal is directly related to its management good management can increase the longeveity of a poorly bred animal, just as poor management can shorten the lifespan of a well bred animal.
I'd like to see better approaches to altering as well as housing and feeding to fully domestic lines before breeders begin to infuse "wild" blood. I just think we may be moving away from what makes ferrets endearing.
Don't get me wrong, I like the looks of a nice dark sable, but I also enjoy the svelte champagnes and rich chocolates as well as the silver roans. I have a rainbow assortment of ferrets in my business and enjoy them all! Knowing how their health changed when their management changed, I'm not convinced that their color has that much to do with their personal health.
Being a farrier, I've heard ALL the comments about strength of black hooves vs weakness of white hooves and the reality is there is NO strength in pigment - but the way the horse is managed will directly influence the health of their hooves!
Just pondering out loud. Cheers, Kim

Albinos of any animal are pretty much as dilute as your ever gonna get. Kim- only problem with that is albinos and sables are the only true natural colours for ferrets Sables obviously, but albino in any species has always been an offshoot no matter what lines you breed.

Your ferrets are absolutely beautiful. A sable would look fabulous snuggling up to our group. Unfortunately Ohio is so very far away from me.
I definitely think people here will be interested. The website is very nice.
