RE Missy- You answered your own question there The easier the food is to eat, the more of it they eat. You got Missy onto Frankenprey vs soup and she had to start working for her meals 😂😂😂😂😂 so she's lost weight. Don't forget, she is going to have smaller poops because she isn't eating a whole ton of food, and that's okay for her. I'd like you to try not adding bone meal to their organs and see what happens with that please❤ I need to see if Missy needs more bone in meals herself or if she was just adjusting. Remember, organ meal poops are supposed to be loose and dark, and they are even more so if you add water to the meals (I add a bit of water to make blending easier) How big are bone in meals now? You said you weren't having to smash as much, right?

So Missy sees meals as work and it’s more trouble eating it than it’s worth? 😂I tried moving back to feeding her on the table and it worked beautifully! She is focused on food and there is nowhere to stash it but in her belly! I will also try adding less water to organ meals cause I think I’ve been adding too much. Missy also had another bout of diarrhea earlier this week and I’m not sure why. Her and Ellie have been on a stashing spree too. I’ll put their food out and the two of them will spend the next few minutes moving all of it 😐 They don’t even eat it! It might be time to tether Ellie’s food. I’m not smashing the chicken/duck/quail anymore but I think I went a bit overboard with the turkey. I’m still finding bits of it on the walls. I occasionally find whole bones around but I think they crunch most of them
Edited to add that we got a noise complaint from the bone smashing. Probably some very confused tenants 😅 So I guess the ferrets need to eat whole bones now!

1. Name: Missy 2. Weight: 880g 3. Ferret has eaten “0.5-1oz” per meal. The table has really helped keep her focused and away from other hungry mouths. She protests a bit at first but will always gobble down most of her food. 4. Stools: still range from loose to diarrhea 😓 I think it was Tuesday that she had the bad bout of it and today it’s been pretty bad too. She has been eating her bones but there’s not really any improvement beyond having more poops 5. Activity levels: Up and about more this week. I think she has more energy now that she’s eating more 6. Weekly menu: see above 7. Picture Edit: I wasn’t sure at first but Missy is pooping out shards of bone 🤭😖😫 I noticed her more solid poops earlier today were very multicoloured/textured. She’s been having diarrhea tonight and her last trip to the washroom resulted in a terribly painful more solid looking poop full of sharp tiny bone shards. Poor dear! Why isn’t she digesting her bone?

1. Name: Ellie 2. Weight: 905g 3. Ferret has eaten “1-2oz” per meal. We are going to start trying the table to feed her too. When we put there breakfast or dinner out she will immediately move it all from the bowl to the feeding den and under the cage. She is more concerned with stashing it than eating it 4. Stools: the best!! 5. Activity levels: crazy! 6. Weekly menu: see above 7. Picture:

So what do you think about Missy maybe having IBS? It might be why she’s not into eating if she doesn’t have to and why she always has loose poops. I was pretty horrified when I realized that she had sharp little pieces of bone in her poop. No wonder she always makes a funny face when she goes! She is due for a checkup so we are going to schedule it for this week. What do you think of putting her back on soup until then?

Honestly, it could be the turkey. It's new and an adjustment. There's also the chance she's just not chewing enough. Croc pooped out a rib bone that was a little less than an inch long once. 😳😂 Part of it is it's hard to say about her poops because I can't see them. Any chance you have some pictures of the diarrhea ones and the ones with sharp pieces?

We’ve been checking since Sunday and she’s still having boney poops (omg, this whole transition has brought so many new adjectives to the word poop). On the bright side her poops are more solid. I’m not sure how well this pic is but the pieces are hard and jagged. After some dissecting...

So question- What did it look like before you picked it up? Was it formed normally? It honestly didn't look too bad in my opinion. There seems to be some fat 'seeds' so she seems to have stuff going through her system a tad fast, but I'm not terribly worried.
Another question- Do you remember that liquidy brown poop you sent to me a while back? Do the diarrhea poops look anything like that? I'm still trying to get an idea on what her bad poops are looking like.
On another note- Do you have any questions or anything I can clear up for you that you've been wondering about?

So for Missy: The original poop wasn’t quite a normal shape to begin with. Her poops are usually sorta puddles. Here’s a pic from earlier today. The liquidy pic I sent a while back is what I call a bad poop. No substance at all. I also don’t think that I mentioned that Missy has a lot of gas. Every time she goes to the washroom, even if it’s just pee, she lets out a big fart. It’s pretty adorable because she’s so dainty in everything else. But we are trying to keep track of what Missy eats and how it effects her now As for questions. I guess it’s mainly just about Missy. Why aren’t her poops formed like Flint and Ellie’s? And why there are some days that she doesn’t really eat anything. The only other issue is around stashing and stealing food but I think that’s just going to take some trial and error. Edit: I was also wondering how we are doing with menus. Is their enough variety?

1. Name: Missy 2. Weight: 860g 3. Ferret has eaten “0-1oz” per meal (noticing she skips meals sometimes) She also won’t eat when the other ferrets are around. She will just grab what she can and stashes it away... and forgets about it or Flint or Ellie eat it. I’m not sure if I’m babying her too much but I’ll put her on the table or in the cage to eat. 4. Stools: loose goops to diarrhea... there was also a bit of an incident where she got at a part of a muffin. Her poops were good and formed for a day or two after that 😅 5. Activity levels: comes out to play in the morning with the other ferrets but sort of avoids them after that. I’ve taken her out for trips in my jacket outside and she likes that 😊 6. Weekly menu: see above 7. Picture This is her “poops” after organ soup last night 😳

1. Name: Ellie 2. Weight: 900g 3. Ferret has eaten “1-2oz” per meal. Her favs are bone in meals and organ soups. We tried using shower hooks for their food but I guess they were cheap and they rusted after the second wash. The ferrets were amused by the hanging food but Flint was the only one brave enough to eat it. Ellie also has a bad habit of trying to steal the food from the other ferrets mouths. Missy lets her but Flint makes a funny barking noise at her... too bad neither of them can hear. She will also try and stash ALL of the food when we put it out. So we are only putting a bit out at a time so the other ferrets can have some too. 4. Stools: beautiful 5. Activity levels: never ending 6. Weekly menu: see above 7. Picture

I hope you don’t mind but I was thinking that I’m going to start posting Missy poop pics and what she ate before! I know that I get overly concerned with her sometimes but hopefully you can let me know if it’s a concern or not. So today she ate quail and this is the result It’s not a “bad” poop but I think there is still room for improvement??
