So I’m definitely going to cut down the heart this week for Ellie, she does seem to love it though. As for the organ soup, she will eat it if I feed it to her but she just goes for the other food when I’m not looking 😑 It will be so much easier when they are all eating the same thing! Also, do you have any suggestions for other bone-in meat? It’s a lot of chicken wings so far.
Missy: The chunks are about 1x1 cm and she will eat the all of the soup first and then the chunks if she’s still hungry. I’m using less heart chunks and more chicken thigh/gizzards as well as bonemeal in the soup so hopefully that helps with the poops. Can I also start using chicken wings for chunks? I think if I do smaller portions too she will start eating more chunks.... or should I just go for all chunks and see if she will do that?

😳 The ferrets all eat chicken wings!!!! I am so proud!!!! Flint and Missy still protest a bit because there is no soup on top but they eventually go for it 😆 Their bowl (just one now!) is always pretty much empty by the morning and afternoon! AND I decided to throw out the emergency stash of kibble and showed Flint before I did and he turned his nose up at it! My little furbits are all raw eaters now!!

Look at you!!! Getting all the floofs to eat bones while I wasn't looking! RE Ellie and heart- Gator is my heart lover too but, even though extra heart won't hurt, it messes with the menu balance. Missy- She's still doing good right? Now that we aren't over feeding her? 😂 Flint and Missy- So are they eating the same menu as Ellie right now?

YES! One menu for three ferrets!!! Which means one bowl, one thing to defrost, one thing to prepare, AND I get my blender back! Missy is doing just fine 😊 I guess I worry about her the most because she is so timid but she can take care of herself 😌 I got some quail yesterday, they are just super tiny chickens! I’m going to wait until next week to use them so Flint and Missy can finish getting adjusted to the chicken wings. I’m also getting a turkey this year for my “Christmas bonus” at work (WTF?!?) So the ferrets get it! Flint and Missy also understand the purpose of the feeding den while Ellie still likes to stash it all. She eventually eats most of it and we clean up the rest at the end of the day. Hopefully we can break her habit, we did get her stop biting our toes!!

Question about portioning. Sometimes all of their breakfast will be gone by noon. I suspect that Ellie hides a good portion of it for later. So far we have just been adding more chicken wings to make it until dinner? And sometimes they won’t finish all of their dinner. Should we just move onto the next meal if their dish is empty/ delay the next one if they don’t finish? There is also a ferret *coughMissy who skips meals sometimes, usually the ones with bones and has runny poops. Any suggestions on getting her to eat the right meals?

Let me know how they take to quail! Would you mind posting up their current menu when you get the chance? So, honestly, what I would do is tether their food/check stashes vs giving more food. If they have a big stash they are just being lazy and eating the meat off of, that's a problem. Missy only doesn't eat what she doesn't have to when she's full

How many ounces would you think I should be doing a meal for the bunch? I cut up a 3oz chicken wing for breakfast and they devoured it. Nobody stashed any either (Ellie did try 😂) All of their 3oz of heart/organ soup from last night was gone too. There was a good 2.5oz of it when we went to bed. Current menu: so far all a.m. is chicken wings. Monday Pm: Chicken wing and gizzard Tuesday pm: chicken gizzard Wednesday pm: heart Thursday pm: chicken wing Friday pm: 1/2 heart 1/4 liver 1/4 kidney soup Saturday pm will be: quail Sunday will be am: turkey wing pm: 1/2 kidney 1/2 liver soup I’m defrosting a quail right because Flint is licking the bottom of the bowl 😋 Funny thing, Flint and Ellie were chowing down this morning but Missy just watched. She looked hungry but wouldn’t go near them. When the other two were done Missy went to check out the food but it was all gone 😱 I gave her a piece of wing from Ellie’s stash but she kept running away when Flint or Ellie came around. So I put the two in the cage and tahda! Missy finally went to town. I guess she’s on the bottom of the ferret hierarchy. 😭 *edit- so it makes sense

Missy is probably easily cowed- it happens. Poor girl needs to learn to fight for her noms! I'd try serving about 7 oz per meal and see where that gets you, Missy may only eat 1 oz, but that extra one will give you some wiggle room to work with. RE Flint gaining weight- So right now he's gaining muscle. Muscle is more compact than fat, which is why he doesn't seem to be gaining Everyone still doing good other than that?

Missy has never been a fighter 😓 Her solution has always been to either run away, hide, or climb. Poor girl, I sincerely hopes she goes ape 💩 on those two one day. She loves the feeding den though because she blocks the entrance with her butt so no one else can get in 😂
7 oz sounds good! I guess before Ellie they were doing 10oz a day of soup so it’s not that much more. They are really doing so well too!
Another Missy question. She has been having some terrible diarrhea to the point that she can’t make it to the litter box in time. At least that’s what I’m hoping because she’s pooped on the coffee table and right beside her bed twice now. I’m not sure if it’s because she’s not getting enough bone or if it’s something more. It started getting really bad on the weekend and I hoped it was because she had organ soup on Friday and Sunday but she had another accident last night too. 😢

Bahahahahaha, feeding den win for Missy!
Can you grab a picture of her poops for me? I would also check her lady parts for discharge- occasionally their bathroom habits will get out of wack with urinary tract infections.

Missy’s poops are better, no more accidents but still not quite as good as the other two. I have a feeling that the organ soup sorta pushed her over the edge and I think she is the mystery night soup eater. The other two don’t seem to like it or eat very much but it’s always all gone in the morning 🤔 Can I add some bonemeal to it? Her lady parts all look normal and there isn’t any discharge. Here’s a pic of her latest one. It looks sorta yellow in the pic but its just a light brown. She is also the ferret with the lowest litter box accuracy 😐

Ugh, scratch that last post. No more than an hour later all of the ferrets were super excited and playing in the bedroom and Missy had a messy accident all over the bed 😓 This is her latest poop 😭 If you can even call it a poop
