Do ask about anything you are unsure of and as many questions. Others will help u also --maybe some mentors will comment.
You can read switching threads on the forum but are not allowed to comment in them.
And thanx for rescuing those little ones who were fed horribly.

how much soupie should be consumed by an adult ferret per one meal?🤔 I think mine don't eat enough😨 4 ferrets should finish 10oz soupie batch within 24 hours, right? Or it's too much for them... or not enough? I am very confused. They barely eat (morning/night) yet full of energy. They have access to Orijen all day (since I am not home) but none of them eats it Should I force feed them particular amount per day or when they "leave the table" it's good enough?

Hi, what ages, gender, etc are they? My small females would sometimes only eat an ounce a day in the summer. Females average 1-3oz a day, males 2-5 depending on size etc. Are they eating it on their own?

Hi Sherry 😁 They are boys: Zuzi (7,5? 2,5lb) Pelmenello (6? 4lb) Umka(4,5 2lb) and Bonifatzi(4,5 2lb) years old. So Zuzi and Pelmenello eat on their own (they know raw from Stella and chewys, etc) but the new guys eat only if you put them next to plate and put some on their noses- they are still not sure whether I want to poison them(I've had them 2 weeks and they were fed wild harvest and fruits before) So once they all gather next to soupie plate (5oz) - they all will eat for a minute or two and wander off. Usually a little bit left. Is it enough for them? Also their 💩 is tiny and way too soft, not diarrhea but weird looking. And stinky 😆

First the poop issue. That is quite normal for size, and right now they are detoxing from the horrid kibble they were on! That can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks before it finally gets MUCH better lol. Your last two are surprising with how much trust they are showing you. By eating when you put them next to it, and dabbing noses, means they believe it isn't actually poison or going to hurt them. And I mean that seriously. At this stage still hover around those two. With the older ones, they are evidently eating their fill. Once those two eat when just put to the dish(no nose dabbing) they are ready for the next steps :-)

I also noticed that one of the new ones(Bonifatzi) wouldn't eat if his best friend not eating(Umka)😮 Umka can eat even by himself, but Boni MUST have his buddy next to him🤔. They have a very strong bond- the do EVERYTHING together, even go to potty😂

Please help!!! I buy fresh meat at local grocery store(HEB) and I check the dates, I don't keep it outside if they don't finish soupie BUT my Zuzi got severe diarrhea - so bad that he's almost unconscious and had fever(I've already been to vet 3 times within 24 hours) he's on antibiotics now My question could the meat cause that?? 😱 The other 3 are fine- their poop could also be better but they are fine

No, in no way would the meat cause this issue. If anything a raw diet will help him recover from whatever bacteria or virus has him so bad. What tests have been done?

My vet also said it's no chance raw meat caused that (though he's neutral to raw feeding but he supports my transitioning them to raw only if I know what I am doing) So I got blood panel(I think that's how it's called) and there's something going on with liver though on ultrasound it looks very good same as kidney So he gave me vitamins for his liver His BG is high (I check every 3-4weeks) so we lower his dose of Dexameth Zuzi is stable now but the other 3 started diarrhea 🤢 They are active and eat a lot... anyway I called my vet and he said to give everyone antibiotic They keep on eating raw soupies, I don't want to stop half way especially if it's not the meat that caused that

It’s been very difficult 2 weeks. My Zuzi is gone💔😞 he was hospitalized for 3 days but they couldn’t save him. I am truly lost so if my questions don’t make sense, I apologize First, how long can they be just on chicken soupie? I switch sometimes chicken and turkey muscle meat/ chicken and beef liver I still didn’t find butcher- and all meat they sell in grocery store is expensive for me now($40 for duck, $20 for 1lb of quail) I have to pay off Zuzi’s medical bill so for now I will probably have to stick with chicken mostly Will it be a lot of damage to their health? For how long is it ok? Second question- all 3 have nasty poop. Vet gave them amoxicillin but still it’s kinda runny. What am I doing wrong? I feel like I am failing my ferrets

I read about your loss on fb. I am so sorry. For soup, I'd say maximum 6 months. Do you have ethnic and/or farmer's markets near you, or in a nearby town/city? Those can be your cheapest sources for meat.
