Reporting in. We've made a third batch. They are eating it but each new batch they are slower eaters at first. It's a little chunkier - that's probably why.

I missed the part about adding water until yesterday - so the soup has always been thick. Sorry! So we have just been pureeing it less. So throughout the day they are eating the same - it just takes longer.

Get those choppers chewing.

Yes, I think it's pretty chewy! They get a very funny look in their eyes and usually walk to a new location when they get a chunk!

Can you send me a pic of the soup when you get a chance so I have a better idea of what size chunks they are eating? That would be helpful.

Awesome. How many meals of this batch do you have left? BEFORE you make the next batch I'd like to see if they will eat liver and heart alone. Offer them each a sliver of plain liver, abs a sliver of plain heart - before making the soup. If they will eat it plain, let me know! If they won't eat it plain then do this: - make one batch of soup with just muscle meat (chicken thigh) - make a second batch that is 1/2 muscle (chicken thigh), 1/4 heart, and 1/4 liver - use the normal amount of powdered bonemeal or eggshell in BOTH soups Alternate the soups every other meal except pick one day to only do muscle soup. So in 1 week you will do 6 meals of the soup with heart and liver, and 8 meals of the muscle-only soup. Let me know if that makes sense or you have Q's about any of it. The goal is to work towards them taking heart and liver separate so we can work towards the balanced menu format while we increase their chunks. Soon we will start adding new proteins too, but one step at a time. You are doing wonderfully.

Not sure how many more batches. They are buried in freezer. I think 5 days. We will try out the heart and liver a couple of days before making the new batch (they're frozen.) Exciting!!! Thanks so much for the support!!!

Sorry: we've been crazy busy. We are leaving for 8 days for spring break. So I am guessing we should keep the ferrets on the same menu until we get back? We made more than enough for two weeks. We have a good house sitter and Butch will be back up if there are any issues. And I will be in constant contact. They are all four eating happily. I still watch little Karma in amazement. You know how when they really like something they will cock their head to one side and lick their lips; and then tilt their head the other way and lick their lips? Karma does that. In my instructions my house sitter noticed that the cats had all of two lines and the chickens also had two lines. Then the ferrets had three pages. I'm not sure I've covered everything...............

No worries! I have been particularly busy on this rotation too. Enjoy your vacation and your plan sounds perfect. We can pick up with trying slivers of liver and heart in 2 weeks when you get back. I'm glad they are loving it so much - they always do once they realize it's food and not poison. They get so much more excited for meals than on kibble! I love watching their excitement and pleasure with their food.

Sorry! We are back. We will make another batch tomorrow. So we should make it as usual but keep out slivers or heart and liver? Or do we feed them extra slivers?
