I am going to order 2 whole ducks, rabbits, quails and 1 chicken. Does anyone do the same? If so, How do you cut it up? How long would all this meat last (NOT INCLUDING alpaca muscle meat, beef muscle meat, other animal organs)? Piper is small and only will probably eat 1.5oz-2oz per day. I want to get enough meat to last 3 months.. Should I get a couple more and should I get them "gutted" or not gutted? I will be getting them skinned though.

Skinned is good ---less work for you. I would not get them gutted, if that means an empty carcass. You want to keep all livers, lungs, hearts,and kidneys. Reproductive organs are good to keep as well, since they are secreting organs. I have never had any bird other than chick with guts in----I will let others comment on what to throw away on fowl digestive tract. I throw away all stomachs, bladders, and intestines of animals. After removing hide, I split the skin with scissors from bottom of sternum---or roughly so, all the way down and hold animal over trash can. With my scissors, I pull out guts and snip any attachments that keep them from falling out(rabbit,rats, guinea pig ). Here is cutting chicken by katt holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/17236/prep-bird-rabbitU can label everything like rabbit bone in, rabbit muscle, rabbit heart and rabbit organs. I put everything in cheap baggies then put the baggies in a gallon freezer bag. Others may have different ways of doing it. Animals will be bloodier than the store bought ones. I put bloody juices in with my meats.

I feed whole prey chicken and quail fully intact. The only thing I do is semi-pluck feathers. That being said I have 7 so they destroy them in a few hours. I do I have my little sprite that goes through a quail in a day.
I feed them whole and let them decide what to eat and what to leave behind. They tend to leave the chicken feed out of the stomach behind. but eat the entire stomach.

I also feed whole quails. I do pluck some feathers - not because of ferrets it is more of a easier cleaning for me issue. Sometimes I also remove intestines (same purpose).
The quails I order have about 200 g (around 7 oz). I have one quail for my oldie Gucci for about 3 meals (the rest of my gang are food destroyers and are not good for comparison). For her I cut it on pieces - I separate legs (feet are her favourite), cut off neck with head, the rest of the carcas I put on 2-4 pieces.
If you will order any kind animals as whole - if you can get them gutted, you will have much less work. In rabbit this would mean removed intestines + stomach, in poultry intestines only everything else you would want to feed.
As far as bones are concerned you can give everything from quail, chicken, duck, rabbit. But ... rabbit heads and upper part of legs will be probably to hard at the begining until she gets used to it and accuire some jaw muscle strenght (but you can smash them and she will eat at least something), same goes for some duck bones (might be to hard for a beginner).

I agree, If I pluck I can put them in a bag and throw them away. If they do it Feathers everywhere. I only made that mistake once and I was cleaning feathers for days out of their cage and in the room with the cage. Never again!

If I chop up a "big" bone (off a duck or quail, etc.) into little pieces can I give them to her that way? I don't want to buy a whole duck and then her not be able to eat the whole thing?.

Leg bones/thighs might be too tough. Necks are just right though, I feed duck and turkey necks to my weasels (chopped up).

I would think all the organs those animals have. Hearts, lungs, livers, stomach, intestines etc but I guess it would depend on your supplier.

For everything, it'll be about $100 for 3 months. Is this expensive? On average is that what do you spend on one ferret for a month?
