-.- the joys of getting older. just wanted to make sure. Some people get squeamish over things like that. Last kitten I dealt with my husband got super grossed out over having to make it go. What color of cloth are you using? Amara could possibly be going a tiny bit, but it could be super gooey and liquid, so maybe blending into the pee. If you aren't using a white cloth, I would suggest it. There's also the option of baby wipes of those are available. I don't blame you for being nervous, I'm a bit nervous you haven't seen any poop yet either. Oh, also, you mentioned she's swatting at the bottle, like clawing at it? When kittens nurse on mom, they knead (like kneading dough for bread) on moms belly to help milk flow. While bottle feeding this can come off as crazily clawing at the bottle. ^-^ go ahead and just pop the fuzzies over to four cubes in the morning and four at night, looks like you've found the magic number for your a.m. and p.m. feedings! I still have a few ticks up my sleeve if they still won't take to less soup.

Haha, I guess almost a year (jeez, time flies!) of cleaning up ferret litter boxes and babysitting kind of rubbed off on me All I see it as is another thing to do to make sure she's okay. As for cloth, I kind of use whatever's available, so it kind of varies. I've used washcloths, q-tips, napkins (the brown ones you get from fast food places). I was thinking of trying again with the q-tips since it's more targeted than a rag. I wish I had a weekday off this week, I would take her in sooner to make sure. Her tummy's round and full, but I can't tell if she's just full or if that's her being bloated. I'm going to try again here in a minute to see if I can get her to poop. Or at least do something. Oh, so that's what that is! I was wondering what it was. I did 3 this morning, but I'll switch to four tomorrow morning for breakfast. They took to it pretty easy this time.

Bahahahaha, you clean up poop often enough and you don't even care after a certain point. I think if she hits any longer past 5 days without pooping, vetting should be asap. You may also want to try watering down the formula you're using, try doing a bit of belly massaging (lightly), and if those don't help by tomorrow I suggest putting a bit of olive oil or Vaseline on your finger and rubbing her anus like that. ^-----^ awesomeness! We will get them there in no time!

I think if it comes down to vetting asap, I'll end up walking down to the office with her. I would rather not since it's been raining so much but I'll soak for 30 minutes if it means her getting better.
We have vegatable oil but no olive oil. I'll go get some either tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll try the diluting trick when I feed her and see if that helps.

I'm crossing my fingers that she poops eventually and puts our minds to rest!

I tried the massage, along with olivd oil. No change, so I booked another appointment at the vet for tomorrow at 11:30 AM.

I'm glad you booked an appointment for tomorrow. I just hope she ends up okay and they don't have to do much to fix her up. Let me know how it goes.

I think my animals just enjoy freaking me out. She waited until 10 minutes before we leave for the vet to finally poop. It was hard but not too bad. We go to the vet, talk to the tech and the vet both aanndd....she's fine. Basically, he said she could have been constipated because of the change in milk, maybe the momma cat didn't let her nurse for a bit before I found her, it could have been her having to adjust to the stimulation instead of momma cats tongue. No fleas, perfect weight, somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks. He gave her a dewormer (that hidden fee we all wait for when we get a coupon for a 'free first exam.'), set up an appointment on Dec 7th for her vaccines, and told me to start weaning from the KMR at around 5 weeks. Also: she may/may not be a he. Too soon to tell, but both vet and his assistant told us the same thing. I cannot even express how happy I am either way. She's fine!

Of course she waits to poop right before the vet visit. X.x I'm very excited that she finally went though! The joys of young kittens and that they all look like girls for a while.

Good news! Bo and Blaze are eating the new ratio of meat to soup

yaaaaaaaay! They really are such good little fuzzies! Keep up the amazing work! Mini quiz time! How can you tell if your ferrets are too fat or too skinny? How do seasons affect a ferret? What is a normal fasting Blood Glucose (BG) level?

How long do you think I should keep them on this ratio? I want to say that if they're too fat, when you hold them up and they hang, they no longer have that uniform tube shape. Too skinny is when you can see their hipbones poking out? (I'm really not sure on this one!) Seasons determine when they shed/fluff out their fur, energy levels, and amount that they eat, right? I haven't the slightest clue with the last one!

I'd keep them on this ratio for 24 hours. just to keep them happy. When a ferret is overweight, their stomach will be more rounded, underweight they will have an hour glass shape. This is all of you scruff and let them dangle. A good weight is a tube sock shape. since they love socks and all, they may as well be them, right? Seasonal, that is correct, but one important thing is that their weight can change up to 40%. A normal fasting BG is 90. The 70-90 range is borderline Insulinoma.

Ah, okay I'll put that in my notes for later haha. On an unrelated ( but still fun!) note, my friend pointed out that if the kitten is a male (and upon closer inspection, looks like that's the case) 'Amara' wouldn't be a good fit as a name. Any ideas?
