Forgot to add the other ferrets! Mojo and Zoe got their S&C with Pork added on the am and pm on Thursday. I added duck hearts on Wednesday pm and pork on Wednesday am. Max and Chloe had quail on Wednesday am and pm and Thursday am and pm. I also gave them duck hearts on Wednesday pm. They still get their S&C every am.

They are doing so well! You are doing so well with them! I'm glad Roscoe seems to be having some very decent days! This weeks leasson is a quick one. EGGSThe incredible edible egg is not only good for us but for our little beasties also. One whole egg (shell included) is a complete meal for them. We often use a raw egg scrambled up to help with passing fur through their digestive system. The rule is one egg per ferret per week or two eggs during shedding season. Quail eggs are smaller so they can have up to three of these a week if you are able to find them. That's it, questions?

What would be considered shedding season? When I pick them up now I get tons of hair on me! LOL! Do you grind up the shell?

Spring and Fall are shedding season, just like with cats and dogs. In the spring they blow their winter coat and in the fall they get all fluffy and puffy! So cute!!! (giggle) If you are noticing a lot more heair then normal shedding from them, it is safe to say they have entered their shedding season. You can grind up the shell or try to give it to them whole and see how they do with getting into it themselves. Most ferrets do not actually eat the shell I've noticed. If yours do they have a complete meal in that egg although they may still be hungry after finishing it lol.

That is great! How is everyone else doing? Are you decreasing the amount of Stella and Chewys for them? Are you adding and slivers or small chunks to their food? Has any one else eaten or tried any bone in things?

Everyone is doing okay. Max has allergies I think. Took him to the vet and they gave him a shot. Toby was sick yesterday. Gave him some laxative and he had some hair in his poop. He wouldn't eat egg...He went to the vet too. He is acting fine today. He wouldn't eat yesterday. They couldn't find anything wrong with him. I haven't really decreased the S&C. I'm adding more ground meat in with it gradually so I guess in a way I am? I haven't added any slivers or chunks yet. I can go to the grocery store and buy some if I need to. I was going to order some soon with my next order. The only ones I have tried on bone in things (drumettes, wings) are Max and Chloe. They love them. Max steals Chloe's from her but she goes and takes it back! He can't intimidate her!

Aww I'm sorry they have not been feeling well. Keep trying with the egg, finger feed them. Scramble it up good and then get some on your finger and then rub it on their gums and teeth. I'm sure it will not take more then a few tries until they realize it is good stuff! lol If they are eating the grinds plus the stella and chewys that you have been giving them and you have only been increasing the amount of grinds then yes in a way you are decreasing the stella and chewys but I'd also wonder if they are getting enough food each meal. Typically they will leave a little when they are getting enough. You can add slivers or chunks as soon as you have the things to do it. What does a menu for Chloe and Max look like for a week?

Okay. I am not gonna lie. I have not done Roscoe's daily menu. I know what I've put in it but not weights. He is sick now. He doesn't act sick, but Tuesday he had black poop! Ugh. I had to take a sample to the vet. They have him on Famotidine with the carafate. He is also on amoxicillin. Max has stopped the coughing so the shot worked. I Have also moved every piece of furniture in the house and swept under it. cleaned baseboards and ceiling fans and ordered an air purifier. LOL! Hence the late post. Can't have my babies having allergy problems! I bet there is no dust in this house anywhere! Roscoe is still getting the S&C duck and rabbit. I've added 5 Tbsp of ground rabbit to it. I chopped up some duck hearts last night and put in it. There is food left over. Max and Chloe get the ground and S&C. I also gave them some duck hearts last night as well. They had some gizzards on Tuesday. They are doing really well with it, but they are also babies still.

I think we should take advantage of how well Max and Chloe are doing and give them mainly a frankenprey menu. Have you been able to source out hearts and liver etc? Poor Roscoe! I know his menu has remained the same, did you do anything different with him in the 24 hours before the black poop? Go anywhere with him? If everyone is doing well with slivers/chunks I would also start transitioning them more to those then the grinds for everyone.

I didn't do anything different. I have tons of grinds still. :/ I've been following the menu on this site with Max and Chloe and the others. I do put duck livers in with the S&C. Roscoe's poop is off and on runny. Should I change his protein? He's been on rabbit.

The grinds aren't going to go bad in the freezer but the longer you have them on grinds the harder it will be to switch them out to bone in things and chunks, keeping a forward momentum going is important. There hasn't been anymore blood in Roscoe's stool? Off and on runny may always be an issue for him but we will try to minimize it as much as possible. He has been on only rabbit now for about a month right? You can try goat or lamb next. Do you have either of those?

I have no goat or lamb. I tried them on lamb once and they wouldn't eat it so I didn't get any. There was some blood in Roscoe's stool but not like it was then there was the black stool. :/ That has cleared up. Took him off the carafate and Pepcid and no more runny stool so that's weird. Added another Tbsp of rabbit to his food so he's at 6 Tbsp now. Added slivers of duck livers to their food and 3 out of 4 wouldn't eat it. Toby ate it. There is just no way this could go smoothly the whole way through! LOL! Max and Chloe are doing wonderfully! Yay!
