How to find a long-term petsitter?

Hello!

I recently posted a bit about my current situation (holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/20952/advice-needed-brainstorm-ferrets-concerns). I may choose to find a long-term (one year) sitter for my two ferrets because my work is taking me to South Korea where the adrenal gland implants are not available. I would provide all supplies, food, money for vet care, etc.

I am still considering all of my options but I wanted to start moving ahead just in case because I know how long it can take to find the right pet sitter for even a short-term situation!

Any recommendations for how to find a good long-term pet sitter? Other forums, websites, shelters, etc. that I could maybe reach out to?

Midwest, USA. Possible East Coast near Virginia-New York could work too as I travel there often to meet my family.

You could try a vet college - even a tech at your vet's office. In my experience, vet techs could always use a couple of extra bucks.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll ask around at the ferret-friendly vets nearby and I requested to join the Facebook group.

Sherry - my youngest is about 2-3 years and my ferret with adrenal gland problems is estimated to be 3-4. Both came from shelters so we're not 100% about the ages.

I have a great ferret sitter in Westminster, MD. She has 5 ferrets of her own and feeds raw grinds. I don't know how she'd feel about a whole year, but she has taken Maisie for 6 weeks while I was on travel for work. I can give you her e-mail/phone if you'd like. I'm sorry you're in this situation -- I felt bad enough with the 6 weeks, so I can't imagine a year!
