I would like to, but I live at home, and my mom really doesn't want anymore animal in the house We rent, and she never asked the landlord if we could have the ferrets, so I don't blame her. Even if a mouse is small and generally not an issue, I won't disrespect her by keeping him, ya know? Gah he is a cutie, though I'm just going to enjoy him while I have him!

Maybe you won't have to disrespect her - maybe she'll agree to a tiny little speck of puffyness. Who knows? (I can dream!) I am so happy he's doing well! And his eyes have opened - more pics!

On a serious note though, it's probably unlikely he will want to be kept. None of my wild guys did - because of what I mentioned about the babies imprinting on mom almost from birth. They just couldn't bond to me and I tried to keep one, but she was horribly unhappy and escaped once, got caught by my cat (I made him drop her) - which warranted a trip to the vet (thankfully she healed well and lived through it). That's what taught me to only use secure-latch mesh lid terrariums or aquariums. Even in that the poor girl would play "spiderman" on the lid all night long. I eventually came to grips with the fact she was not happy, a fact she proved when I tried to hold her one last time before releasing her into "mouse territory" and she bit me - hard. Yeah, I was still sad but not so much after that. Releasing is probably best. The babyhood is when they are easiest though - I do hope you are lucky and he will bond to you, but it is a difficult thing to do.

He IS little chubster That's his nickname I really don't see him wanting to be kept...I do feel he is a bit attached to me--but only as the giant hand that brings him food ;D I mean, even if he DOESN'T have to be on my hand, and has already ate and decided he's done, he'll sit on my hand to clean himself, and just hang out in general. I try not to let him do it, because I want to prepare him for release in the future--but he's so cute it's hard not to sometimes Besides...I feed him every 2 hrs....including at night....so I feel I deserve some "affection" ;D

Update: Reepicheep is doing awesome! He is eating solids now, and getting milk every 3 hours! He's starting to realize he's a wild boy, and generally wants nothing to do with me unless he's getting milk
