Hooray! You may be nearing the end of jax's detox period. I know you'll be relieved when that's over! The venison should be fine for them. How are they doing with their chunks? Any success increasing the size? Have you tried Jax with whole bones yet?

Well.....chunks size for Gomez nope, he is still giving us a fit with different sizes, heart. He is like the terrible 2's, only eating like 1/2 of dinner and breakfast. Few days will eat 100% but not many, those are meals with beef beef beef with 1 oz chicken soupie. He fights, pushes, squirms etc. Jax we can almost leave alone and he will eat 75% approximately the you have to help. Not sure what else we can do. Jax has gnawed on a wing tip but that is all. Doing good on the beef soupie and have to make more torromow.

Tell Gomez he's a brat and I love him! He's such a cutie with such personality. It may take some tough love, just letting him get good and hungry, before he finally decides to just eat it.

And that is what we have been doing, tough love and we sit there and hold him.... Might need TOUGHER love, to just leave him alone with the food, lol. We're not to that point yet, but if he doesn't decide to cooperate pretty soon, we might get there. He has to learn to eat by himself, the little booger. Is he still doing ok with bones? My computer is dead and there's no hope for its resurrection. I have a computer in my classroom and I have my iPad, but the touchscreen is acting up. Technology is great when it works.

He is eating bones BUT only wing tips and Cornish game hen small bones and we are still holding for him. Tried a lamb riblets last night again and he licked it, Jami tore a piece of the meat off and he ate it....even smagibg it I think it's too big. OMG, a belly laugh yesterday. Picture this, me prepping their breakfast plates and Jax at my feet and leg wanting his food. So, I put his plate on the floor just to occupy and see what he'd do, he starts eating then walks away after a few minutes. Gomez comes over to see what's going on and Jax grabs his full plate of food and halls butt across the kitchen.....yes, food dropping out lol. Just so Gomez didn't eat it. It was so funny all we could do was laugh. No hissing or fussing or anger at all from him though. We have been having their plates really close so they know it's ok.

Not sure what smagibg is? I can usually interpret autocorrect fails, but this one has got me stumped, lol.
Funny little Jax... he's not taking any chances with his food! Actually, a little food competition could be a good thing. Sometimes with ferrets, it's 'monkey see monkey do'. If Gomez sees Jax eating the good stuff on his own, he might be more inclined to give it a try too. Same thing for Jax with bones. If he watches Gomez eat the bones, he might want to try them also.

Gomez had turkey gain and seems to be doing ok with it. Still very hard to get chunks in him, takes about 30 min to feed him 1 oz soupie with 1.5-2 oz meat chunks, only small chunks the size of index finger nail. Jax just eats....some coaxing at times but not much. Do you have in the files the sheet that says what each protein is.....just need something so we know we're getting the right ones. Chicken, CGH all 1 protein but is turkey since it is poultry? Concern is Gomez has been on soupie now 3 months on the 26th of this month. When is your surgery, will you be out or off here for some days? Talk to ya later

For proteins, basically different animals equal different proteins. A CGH is just a young chicken; therefore CGH and chicken are the same protein. Although turkey is poultry, it is a different kind of bird, therefore different protein.
Gomez is not ONLY on soup anymore. He's eating more chunks now than soup. We need to really work on his heart and organs though. How is he doing with the bones? Is he eating them whole? And how often?

Ok, I think it might be time to get tough with Mr. Gomez. 30 minutes twice a day is ridiculous. Give him his favorite meal, maybe even with a little extra yummy soup, stick him in his condo and leave. Be tough. He won't starve if he refuses to eat it. The worst that will happen is you'll have to throw it away and he'll get very hungry. DON'T feel sorry for him. DON'T give in. Think of him as a toddler who has learned to manipulate you. It's hard. I know that. It's scary to think that he might not eat and it's pitiful to think that he might be hungry, but he HAS to learn this lesson. You can entice him to eat with a tiny bite on his spoon IN HIS CONDO but no more than a bite. He might skip a couple of meals but you can be more stubborn than he is. After all, you know what's best for him. You know that he knows HOW to eat and he knows that the meat is food. He's just being stubborn.
Surgery is the 22nd and I have to stay at the hospital overnight. I'll try to check in that morning if I have time, but I'll be offline most of the day on the 22nd and at least part of the 23rd. Depending on how I feel, I'll try to check in again that evening. You're far enough along in your switch that I don't anticipate you needing me for anything. You are doing a great job with your little guys and I'm confident that you can handle any food situations that arise, but if you have another emergency (Gomez!), tag someone here or on FB. I've let the other mentors know I'll be out for a couple of days so they'll be checking in as well.
Jami has knee surgery next week also, right? When is that?
