I would give him time to recover. Anesthesia makes you all wonky and I have never had any appetite until a few hours later. I was thirsty however. Let's ask gfountain, since she is your Mentor, what she would do. We'll also tag Heather for any further medical advice. I'm glad the little guy is back home. Now you relax and take care of him. He can pick up on your stress, so be calm and gentle around him. He needs his Mommy now.

Yes, I also asked in my switching thread. The stitches are buried so there's not much worry about him scratching them out. The vet said to just pinch the skin if it bleeds and it'll stop in a short time. On the car ride home, Layla kinda got left in the back seat so I could cuddle with Marty. He kept stretching up to put his head on my chest

Oh. When I got home I decided to put Marty in the crate with Layla until I could get everything in the room, but Marty immediately started making noises and freaking out, so I ended up pulling him out. When they were put in the cage he was perfectly fine though. Was he just startled to suddenly be with Layla? Was he scared or just excited? He didn't poof out, and he quieted down as soon as I picked him up.

I would let him sleep alone for awhile. He may be feeling a natural instinct of being vulnerable. Layla needs to see him though and he will need to see her. Just let him have a little time to come out of the Anesthesia.

Alright. After sniffing every hair on Marty, Layla went up to her hammock and they're sleeping separate right now. I'll post pictures of the stitches when I get them on Imgur

This is Marty's face. The tumor was tiny, but it bled a lot. There's cauterizing powder on it instead of stitches. This is Marty's neck. This tumor was a little bigger, and the stitches were bleeding slightly on the car ride home but its stopped. This is the chest. The tumor was really big and bled a lot. The vet said he had to use a clamp, but it stopped bleeding quickly.

I may have found another one in a spot that Marty's been apparently been licking a lot. I really can't afford another surgery, and I don't want to put him through another so soon. Its tiny and darkish, like the tip of a pencil is under the skin.

When he's feeling better and has more appetite you may want to try some Reishi mushroom as an additive to his food. It sounds like he's going to be prone to these growths. Hopefully they will not require treatment and can be controlled with the supplement. I'm glad that things appear to have gone well. Ferrets are notorious bleeders so as long as your vet isn't concerned just treat as instructed I will light a healing candle for your wee one. The sudden panic was him coming out of the anaesthetic. Different animals react in different manners. You will often hear dogs screaming and howling, cats yowl, ferrets will twitch and sometimes panic and try and run away. Holding them, allowing them to burrow in blankets covered with their scent helps them to recover quietly from the surgery ciao

Yea, he's all snuggled up with Layla right now. She mostly left him alone except to inspect his wounds (she was REALLY sniffing them, but didn't lick or scratch at them, so I think she was just being a good tiny alpha ferret and checking on her brother), then it must have gotten chilly last night, 'cause she left her hammock to crawl in his blankets. I'll try to get some reishi mushroom. It comes in a powder right? Can Layla also eat it, or should I feed it to Marty separate?

With my first ferrets, I had 2 girls and a boy. The boy stayed at emergency clinic for a day or so, and when he came home--the girls groomed his face good. It was so cute.

I wasn't able to find the reishi powder at Walmart. I'll try to get some from Amazon quickly.

That should be fine. It is pure with no added ingredients. SherryCould you suggest the dosage for her Marty?

I *think* the correct dosage for that strength would be 1/8 of a tsp. Or just add a pinch to one meal a day
