Thank you! So like something like nutria would be ok? I'm also concerned about his poop. Should I be? Wow, I had never heard of a Nutria. I looked it up, I had heard of the River Rat. Have you seen those around you? They are awfully cute. They look rather like the Groundhogs on my property. I tagged Jason earlier, when I posted his link on Wild Game. I'll have to let him answer that. I think he will say it is okay, once frozen for two weeks. I commented on Loki's poop. I don't think you have to worry about it. It sounds like an egg poop. You'll get funky poops with new foods. Don't ever hesitate to post a picture, for reassurance. Worrying about poop is part of Ferrenting. (giggle)

Thanks @fender! Ok so this morning when I cleaned his box he had had a very runny almost peachy in color poo. Looks like there was a lot of mucus in it......or could it be the egg from last night? It sounds like an egg poop. You'll get some funky poops during a transition and with new foods. Just keep an eye on them and if the funky poops keep occurring, post a pic and we'll look at it and see if you should be worried. Poop Patrol, never ending. I much prefer Poop Patrol with my fur kids to when it was with my skin kids. Lol right? Ok thanks!

Sounds like he may have a blockage. You need to get him checked ASAP. Any earplugs missing? Did he chew any foam or rubber? Did he eat any cloth?

A ferret that eats Purina kibble should NOT only poop twice in one day.

Egg poops always look like this most people give egg 2-3 times a week during shedding season. Weird poops on egg days are super common but shouldn't continue for long periods

I'm not talking about the eggs. I feed raw eggs all the time.
Further above she posted that he had only pooped twice on one day. That isn't normal. Especially for a ferret that eats kibbles. It really sounds like a possible blockage.

miamiferret2 I did the pumpkin and oil schedule that @poncesmom recommended. And he is now pooping on schedule again. As soon as he wakes and then a couple hours later before sleep. And they no longer look seedy or thin. The hacking has also stopped. I didn't see anything in his poop I checked but I didn't dig dig.

What do the ingredients look like on nutria? Nutria is an animal that we have here in Oregon. It's kinda like a big muskrat the diet is also the same.

Haha oh awesome! I had never heard of that animal before! (giggle)Yeah they are a problem here actually so they can be harvested all year round. Do you think the meat would be ok for him? And would I need to give him other meats as well as nutria?

Poncesmom would be the expert there but I believe at least 3 proteins is recommended in a balanced raw diet. Wild game is totally out of my element so I am not sure on that one.

You could always switch him to a natural all raw diet. I am really concerned about him not passing stools properly. I would definitely do a protocol for a blockage for the full time. If he hasn't pooped anything by then you will likely need to get him to the vet.

If he hasn't pooped anything by then you will likely need to get him to the vet. He seems to be pooping better. Should I still be doing the protocol? Cause since his poos look normal again a don schedule I haven't looked.
