You mix with just enough warm water to get the consistency (thin soup, thick soup, etc) that you want.

All of this information is so helpful! But it says to feed the remaining food from the morning, in the evening if it is left unfinished. What about how it’s say bone in meat in the morning, and heart at night, just mix them? And what about if they don’t finish the night time meals? Just toss it?

jeshimikah Whether the food should be discarded will depend on what it is. If it's soup or ground meat it won't last too long. For muscle meat and organ meals, I throw leftovers away when it's time for their next meal. If it's large chunks of bone-in meat sometimes I'll let them keep leftover pieces they stashed in their feeding dens so they can eat them if they want. I've read that some people will feed whole prey for larger animals (ie. rabbit) and leave the entire thing with the ferrets for a day or perhaps longer.

Definitely. Start with reading a lot of the stickied threads, along with the mentored threads in the diet archives That will give you a better idea of a direction to take

You can also do this as well. Click this holisticferretforum.com/ and then Natural Diet. You will get a lot of drop boxes that will give you oodles of info if you have not already discovered the information. You may need to do some shopping around to find out where you can get a variety of foods. Variety is important. Frozen quail is generally found at all those little Asian stores. If you use pork, find that which has not been injected with salt and phosphate as well as spices----this is really difficult to find at my stores. I have about quit that product. However, you can go to your farmer's market and probably find a lot of meat that is natural and without additives. Whole duck can even be injected with salt. Hare Today is popular here for a variety of meats for ferrets. You can copy the menu down somewhere( i used a whiteboard at first). Some people make a chart in computer----whatever way that helps u keep up with it. Fill it out with the meals. Remember to try and put a bone-in meal after an organ, heart, or muscle meal so ferret will not have lose stool. They do need the bone for calcium--- for their bones and to clean their teeth. Here is menu. holisticferretforum.com/natural-diet/raw-diet-the-meat-of-the-site/basic-frankenprey-menu/ Once you ferret has started to eat meat---you can post your menu and members can give you some help with it. Do ask as many questions as you like, and let us know how things are progressing.

I will start right away reading and preparing my menu. He really likes the soupie... i notice his tummy very bloated and hard. Is it the food? Is he allergic to something? Do you have any suggestion. He came really bloated and full of gasses from the pet store, he finally deffecated a lot and after 3 hours I started him with raw and he went straight for the food. But I see his tummy really hard , more than yesterday .
Thanks for all your help

Leeandatsui I would find me an exotic vet. If one is not in your area---I would start calling vets and see if you can get a hold of one that is familiar with ferrets. Heather may know something about bloat if that is it. I read it can twist the intestine which will need surgery. But like I say that is a new subject to me. I would get a fecal and see if he is overloaded with the bacteria that can cause the gas---if i correctly understood one of the articles that I sent you. Do keep us updated.

Hello, I took your advice and started calling vets and I am going to see one today. I’ve been checking his poops and saw he ate some plastic wrapping paper.I believe that is the root to all those problems.. ]Do you have any suggestions to this situation that is natural? [Maybe the vet will send x-rays to make sure everything is out.]Thanks for the advice, support and the articles. I recently lost a senior ferret and I feel paranoid about everything. I’ve only fed kibble and I have no idea how raw poop should look like.I’ve seen so few pictures , but I have no complete idea on how it should look, but I definitely discovered little pieces of plastic paper. THANK YOU

Hi, thank you for sharing the links. What do you mean with "commercial raw" can you name examples? Also as of now with the Covid situation if I want to get turkey, is only available shredded turkey, is this a good option? or better to have the Turkey breast or some other presentation?

We recently got two sweet, baby girls from a local breeder. They are 11 weeks old. We are feeding raw three times per day and they have access to high quality kibble and water at all times. We let them out to play for 1-2 hours in the morning, afternoon and evening. I was wondering should we wake them up to eat and play or just let them sleep and get them out when they are ready? I’m afraid we’re waking them up too much although they seem happy and healthy!
