he doesn't have a hard lump in his belly, he is just really really really constipated, hopefully. I noticed he was a little swollen.

You can pour some salmon oil over the pumpkin and see if he will take it, other wise if he still won't then add some warm water and syringe it to him, he has to have that for the protocol.

Alright, I've given him about two 3 mil syringes full, and he hates me, coz i'm sneaky. poor baby, he doesn't understand what is happening to him. he is so grumpy. i offered a little liver soup and he went for it, i don't want his bg to crash since he hasn't eaten since 1140 this morning. he is putting me on a roller coaster today.

Just make sure he is getting 1 tbsp of it alternating every hour with vaseline, he will forgive you, don't worry. Make sure he is eating every 3-4 hours, a crash isn't something we want to happen right now. He should have a big pumpkin/vaseline poop in a couple hours, watch him closely.

Success? he just now pooped a big poop, he is rubbing his butt all over the carpet like it's sore, poor dear. I put some vaseline on his butt earlier to try and help it feel better. He seems alert and happy, nothing like this morning. Moving poop along. I didn't think the eggshell powder was ground up fine enough in his raw soup mix. Now I know I was right.

That's good, if he was constipated it could have hurt his bottom, you can put some Preparation H cream on it, that will help. Sherry, Heather, what do you think of her giving him some pumpkin every day for a few days to keep things moving along? How much eggshell powder are you putting in his soup?

I put some vaseline/coconut oil on his butt, he is continuing to make poops. on the eggshell powder, i put in about a tablespoon per 8 oz chix thigh and one liver and some water. he's never had any bone of any kind b4, so it must have been very rough on him. I didn't think about that. I have been in a bit of a panic since I found out about his illnesses, so i haven't been thinking quite straight. he's very alert and active. This morning he looked so weak I was seriously worried I would have to put him down! What a turn around. thanks for the continuing support, it means a lot to us. <3

One tablespoon? That makes sense to why he's constipated, that's 4x too much. This is the recipe, you need to follow it or his food will be unbalanced and after a few weeks will start to show and it won't be good. Recipe-
8 oz chicken thigh 1 oz chicken liver 1 oz chicken heart 1/2 teaspoon eggshell powder
Make this correct batch asap, and start him on this. If you don't have hearts, make a batch tonight before dinner of just blended chicken thigh with 1/2 tsp or a bit less of eggshell powder and monitor him and his poops.

Thank you abbeytheferret6! UPdate for everybody; He has made a huge turnaround so far, he was digging in the water dish and smelling the cat's butt today for the first time in a few weeks. <3 She hates that and he knows it. I think his fur is also coming in thicker since the raw was introduced. I didn't think it would really make a difference and when my boyfriend noticed it, I thought he must be seeing what he wanted to see, but nope. he has thicker hair now. less itching. he is feeling pretty good as far as I can see. we also haven't been caging him unless we are at work. we will leave the door to his cage open if he wants access or to feel an old sense of security, but it seriously affects his morale when we separate him from us. He's like a mom with teenage kids when it comes to closed doors. <3

That's so good to hear Once you make the balanced batch, his poops should even out and he will get better. The change in them really is amazing. So is he eating just soup now, how many oz a day? Sorry I'm having a fogged head day today, lol.

idk how to measure it in oz, but he is eating about two to three tbsp of the soup every three hours. He is still rubbing his butt all over the floor.

Okay, rough measure- 4tbsp = 1/4c = 2oz. As for the smaller blackish poop that can be normal depending on the ferret and the meal. Also the butt rubbing- they do normally scoot after pottying to wipe their bottoms. Haven't read all through this, but is that possibly what he is doing? Does he have a prolapse where his butt sticks out and looks angry red for more than 20 minutes?
