I think I can speak for everyone here that they are going to say Ferret Nation. Why? Many will have several reasons.
Midwest has amazing customer service. They found one issue in the old model shelves, and replaced them. Midwest even sent out free shelves to those who owned the old shelves I heard. They recently started even giving out free ramp covers.
The doors are huge, both open up wide. The quality and durability of this cage make it last a lifetime. The ability to expand is a big bonus, some have even taken modifying their cages to a whole new level. The bars are mostly vertical, making it harder for ferrets to climb and chew. The pans pull out for easy cleaning, the cage itself is overall easy to clean.
I could go on and on. I don't know much about the Ferret Mansion, is it by Marshalls?

143 is an add-on to make the 142 a triple-height cage; we have two 142s (old style) and wouldn't have anything else

I have 4 ferret nation 142 (older models) and a critter nation 161. I also have 4 marshals midwest (I've had a number of others that are not worth mentioning, they seemed fantastic...tubes to play in....total frustration to clean) Ferret nations hands down. I'm busy busting down my marshals midwests and turning them into a cage that the whole front removes for cleaning. I'm through fighting with those stupid shelves (too narrow and dangerous for fuzzes) and those tiny doors that don't allow you to get in and clean and place hammies without being a contortionist ciao

the fn 141, 142 & 143 add-on are NO LONGER available!
they've replaced these models with the fn 181, 182 & 183 add-on. the 18's are 'no-tools-needed' assembly.
i haven't seen the 18's, nor even looked at the spec's for them...logic tells me they'd have to use lighter-weight components to allow for 'no-tools' to put this together - especially for adding that 3rd level...so, i'd say the 18's model would be less sturdy.
i LOVE the 14's that i have (two sets of 3-levels) and, more importantly, the FERRETS LOVE the FN!! they are well-worth the expense, that's for sure!!
if you can find the 14's i'd definitely recommend getting it. if you can only find the 18's, i'd hold off for the moment because they are so new, literally just became available in the past 2 weeks, that there's no feedback/reviews on them yet.
oh, the 14's and 18's ARE NOT compatible/interchangable...

Sorry but the 180s sound GREAT to me. Lighter and easier to assemble? Sounds fabulous. Anything is better than the crappy superpet cages. I'd rather the cage not weigh over 100 pounds, really...

I think Amazon said that the 142 weighs roughly 97lbs in the box. Amazon still has the 140s, or at least a couple of them left. If you want a new 140s model, jump on it quick! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F4OX0EThere's the link to the one I got. It's a 142 with new style shelves, three ramp covers included.

Ferret Nation cages are my favorite -i have 6 of them here at the shelter. :-) it is so easy to open the doors and dress with bedding and to change out for laundry day> also easy to reach litter pans. here is an example of a 142 fully dressed in bedding by Littlefeetferretbedding doors open all the way so you can get in everywhere to clean & dress

FN 142's for us. I wish we could have gotten the 143, but since they can't be interchanged, we'll just have to "make do" ;D I'd take the FN over ANY other cage. Worth every single penny

Huh, I didn't know they changed the shelves. I wonder if Midwest would send me some new ones. My FN is lovely and I've had it for about 3 years and it's still holding up. Just a little rust and some scratches and the pans warped when I left them outside after washing them. I can't imagine a cheaper cage holding up as well.

I heard they no longer send the shelves for free, but it's worth a try. Also you can buy them on ferret.com

When they had the first version of the shelves, there was about a 1/2" gap between the plastic and the end of the shelf. A number of ferrets got their paws caught in there, and broke their legs and died. So they developed a 2nd generation of shelves, leaving a tiny gap. Those, they exchanged for free, because the first ones were such a high risk. Unfortunately, a few ferrets still got a toe caught, and were hung up on the shelf, panicking, a couple breaking a leg, and I believe one died from the stress of it. So- they came out with a third generation of shelves. These are the ones in the newer FN's, the pan type. Since the risk was MUCH lower, they aren't supplying those ones free, like they did with the 2nd generation shelves. But from what I understand, they are not expensive.
