So the white one, abd the current largest baby, is a Red Eyed White, I caught it peeking at me with its little ruby eyes! I'm hoping this is a good sign. Every REW in this bloodline has done really well at shows. No chocolate eyes yet, but I did find out they can pee on their own now. Ask me how I know that....
I did lose the biggest chocolate kit. It climbed out of the nest and squeezed out of the cage bars, and froze to death behind the cages. Sad that I have one less kit, but I must say the ferrets were very happy. Most rabbit breeders freeze their dead kits to sell to snake owners. I give them to my cat-snakes.
I've fixed the bar spacing issue with a wrap of " baby saver" wire around the bottom of the cage, six inches high to keep the rest from following their bigger sibling's example. With the loss of the hippo-baby, hopefully the smaller kits will catch up, size wise, to the white one. Mama Nougat is apparently trying to convince them to chew and taste things already. She put her pinecone, that she loves to chew, into the nest and has been dragging her water bowl out of its holder and putting it next to the nest.
I'll have to post pics of my winterizing of the lean to where the cages are. Pretty happy with it so far. Water didn't freeze today and it never got above freezing outside.

As promised, little ruby peepers! This kit is active and quite the little jumper. They're 12 days old, and the chocolates are working on opening eyes. slooooowly. Managed to get all five remaining kits AND mama's nose in one shot. LOL

I don't post on this thread everyday, but I do view it pretty much everyday. As such I would like to put in an official complaint to @ediebird ! I feel that having to wait days to see more pictures of these baby bunnies is cruelty to your fellow humans. Please hurry up and post more pictures. Thank you for your time. :heehee: But seriously I need more baby bunny pictures... Pretty pretty please

LOL Well here ya go! They're two weeks old. I had another one freeze on Friday night. So now the babies are coming inside the house at night until they can generate some body heat on their own. And maneuver well enough to get back into the nest once they get out. They all have their eyes open and are learning to walk, right now they walk like drunken bobbleheads since baby rabbits have ridiculously oversized heads. Here's the white baby. This one is currently my favorite simply because it's easy to pick out. LOL First to open eyes, first to learn to go potty outside the nest, first to start responding to voice and touch and learning to accept nose rubs. REW angoras do really well at shows, so hoping this one has good conformation as it grows! One of the browns. You can't tell from the pictures, but all the babies are roughly the shape of a tennis ball at this point. This one saw mama and went running to get some milk! LOL The chocolate babies have a gorgeous sheen to them.

Aww thank you for posting more. I was getting desperate. My dog really really doesn't get along with rabbits (or cats, and squirrels for that matter) but is great with other stuff otherwise I would probably have rabbits too. I just love the feel of their fluffy coats, and the way their noses twitch. So adorable. I too think the REW is the best, but don't tell the others, they are adorable and I want them too. My first rabbit was a REW, I had him years ago as an 8th birthday present. He loved to sit on my knee and have me massage his neck, if I stopped he would dig at my lap.

I had a REW New Zealand cross as a child. He was kind of a lousy pet. LOL My siblings and I fed our rabbits so much stuff that was just awful for them...sugary breakfast cereals, cookies, candy...surprised they lived, honestly.
My dogs don't know what to think of the rabbits. Pumpkin is afraid of the adults, Beau just looks at them. He's a Basset Hound, though, so I keep his interaction with them to a minimum.
I'm going to aim to get some good shots of each baby when I bring them inside tonight. Fingers crossed that everyone cooperates!

They're getting photogenic now! LOL Not sure yet but I suspect the white one is the keeper of the litter. It comes toddling to me when I talk to them, puts its face in my hands for pets, and licks, and relaxes when held. Also, it's lethally cute. See how fat they are. REW baby wants to par-tay. Managed to get one of the Cocoa Puffs up!

OH MY GOSH THEY ARE SO PERF I know, right? They're starting to eat hay now, and do those little happy hops when they play. They're not afraid of my dogs or the cat (maybe not too smart there, cat eats what the ferrets eat, including the frozen siblinga of these four) They're all actively seeking out attention from people now. Their little ears pop up and the hop straight up in the air when spoken to!

Can I have one? Pretty please? I'm sure I could hook you up with a breeder nearer to you. Heheh...rabbit people are horrible enablers, I've found. And I have the bunny bug...

Don't Rabbits get scared of ferrets by their smell? I've heard it's not good to have both as a pet in the same house. Is this true?
Just curious. A Rabbit is one of the very few pets I've never owned. LOL.

Don't Rabbits get scared of ferrets by their smell? I've heard it's not good to have both as a pet in the same house. Is this true? Just curious. A Rabbit is one of the very few pets I've never owned. LOL. Depends on the rabbit and the housing arrangements. My husband's lop, Velvet, lives in the same room with my ferrets, and they don't bug him at all, I think he thinks they're bizarre cats and he likes cats. My previous rabbit was terrified of my rats and woul probably die if a ferret looked at him. (He died of impacted hair in his gut instead.) Ideally they should not be in the same room. (My Angoras are outside) and any contact between the two is strictly forbidden.
