It's fine for them to eat, but you should freeze it for at least 4 weeks to kill any parasites. Do you think I could get a picture of what size chunks you're using?

Okay if you're having problems even with really small pieces you can try a scruff and stuff. The idea is the gently scruff them in your lap and put a little piece in their mouth. Sometimes they just need to know that they're supposed to eat it.

OMG that should not have been that difficult..... I hate computers. They look huge but they are tiny. The one on the right is paper thin and tiny and they will eat that but any bigger nope. The two on the left are just about paper thin just bigger.

Haha! Just work on getting them to eat the smaller size then. I would increase the number of chunks and try to increase your soup thickness if you can.

Well they are eating still about 2 oz a piece. They are eating some very small slivers and not eating some very small slivers....just depends on their mood. I am going to just keeping trying. I have done turkey and chicken do you recommend another protein or should I just keep trying the slivers with chicken/turkey? I want to progress to a thicker diet but also would like to progress with more variety.

If you want to try another protein, pork is a favorite around here. I think its more important to try and get them eating what theyre eating then worrying about adding new proteins, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt if you wanted to change things up a bit.
So we know that they will eat the soup, but they're not eating as much as you'd like. If you leave soup out do they graze on it? Or eat all 2 oz at one time? Do they leave soup in the bowl when it comes time to put it away?

They are not eating enough I believe to provide what they need for a days intake. My understanding is 3 oz a piece and on a good day they are eating 2 oz a piece and then dinner of kibble before bed. Riley eats a bunch in the morning, a little in the afternoon and always leaves some on his plate. Bubba eats most of it on his plate in the morning and then a little in the afternoon. I also have a vet appt on November 10 for full checkup and to check blood glucose. Bubba grazes sometimes but Riley is not much of a grazer he eats morning and night and very very seldom a small midday snack.

I'm wondering if at this point they're not eating more because they still have a kibble meal. If theyre each eating 1.5-2 oz at one meal then they're eating half of their days intake. I think that the boys are probably filling up their other half on kibble. I know it can be scary to take away that safety net, but I think that they're eating enough to remove the kibble.

I will try tomorrow. I already gave their kibble back at 7. Riley is still not eating many slivers(maybe 2). Bubba is chewing them up and eating them if they are in his food maybe leaving 2 slivers on the plate.I work the next 2 nights so I will feed when I get home at 8:15 AM and put raw out at 6 PM before I leave. Will the soup keep for 14 hours? It is Elk hunting season here in Washington so my husband will not be home to help me with the guys, he's usually my backup for feeding help.

Grrr I swear I responded to this. So sorry! The boys won't touch the soup if it's gone too bad. Ferrets are smart like that. It will stay good for about 6-8 hours, but mine always stays good for longer. I think it depends on how cold your house is and I like it really cold. However I feel like the boys will be fine. Maybe you can give them their soup and then leave them some frozen soup right before you leave for work.
