1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferret?
Ferret World
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I Would like to switch them to raw(not alive).I work 12.5 hour shifts and drive 40 minutes 3 times a week so is a FULLY raw diet something I can accomplish? If so fully raw.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I use to feed them wysong epigen and they had energy and perfect poop then when wysong switched their formula I bought enough to transition the ferrets for 6 months slowly but after 6 months they still have runny poop and NO energy. I have spent countless hours online trying to find a "good ferret food" but there aren't any good options that wont eventually make them ill.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
I understand....I already have a very picky eater and know he will be very stubborn in the process. Yes I am willing to make the commitment for the health of my babies:)
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
2 ferrets.Riley is 1 year 10 months. Bubba is 1 year 7 months. Both male. Bubba had an eye injury when I got him at petco that the vet could not do anything about. They both get regular checkups and seem to be healthy so far:)
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc) Do they already eat some form of soup?
Wysong ferret epigen 90 and wysong digestive support. 1 egg yolk a week is the only raw I can get them to eat so far. They will not eat any soup I have made this far:(
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
No. But I try different raw meats and consistencies to the meats all the time.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
Like I stated before I want the best for them but I work 12.5 hours and have a 40 minute commute to and from work 3 days a week. I knew nothing about ferrets when I took over care from my daughter a year ago and have tried to educate myself along the way.....this will be their forever home.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
Everyday
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc?
Yes. I have a weight watchers scale that does grams/oz/etc.I have bought liver/hearts/chicken/gizzards and many other meats to put in my freezer when I find it for the start of the raw transition.
