I will get some vaseline today and try this after my husband gets home from work. We tried with the lancet all the way up last night and you can see where it pokes and massage and milk the spot but its not bleeding any. If I am not able to get it tonight could we just proceed with the raw? If we cant get it I will just make an appt with the vet and have it checked there but it may take a couple weeks. I just feel like I have put about 10 little holes in my ferrets pads and 3 in the tail.

Just keep an eye on them and make sure they're eating and I'm sure it'll be fine.

I will poke their tails tonight when the hubby can help. They both ate their regular kibble this morning about 9:30. At 3:30 bubba ate about 0.6 oz of the chicken soup with small chunks(he ate some chunks and chewed on some and spit them out) Riley ate about 0.4 oz chicken soup with no chunks(he kept hiding his chunks). I will cut smaller chicken pieces tomorrow.....I didn't have any frozen so cutting the raw in very small pieces was hard so I will try for frozen smaller pieces tomorrow. I also have FDR stella and chewy and NVI raw bites in the freezer if you think they might be helpful....they dont like the FDR dry or wet and I haven't tried the NVI raw bites.

You can make them a little feeding den out of a cardboard box so hopefully he'll hide his stuff in there. RIght now whole pieces of meat are exciting and new so of course he wants to stash his new found treasures.
I want you to try and get them each eating 3-4 oz of soup a day. Does that sound manageable? When I started with Evanna I had to spoon feed her a little at a time. Will they eat more than half an oz or so if you leave them on their own? Do you have the weekends off? If so this would be a good time to monitor how much soupie they will eat on their own.

Right now I let them eat on their own and they only eat a little. But because I am worried about them not eating enough and not being able to feed kibble right after the raw if they don't eat enough I have only been feeding mid day. I could try their morning or evening meal tomorrow. I will be home tomorrow but gone all day Sunday to go see my son 4 hours a way at college for dad's weekend, Also how do you know if one of the meats does not agree with them, like an allergy? I work 3-12 hour shifts on all random days with every other weekend off. I have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off this week.

When first starting raw you're going to have a bit of diarrhea, but if they're not agreeing with the meat then you'll probably see consistent dark loose poops. If you see seedy poop or anything like that I wouldnt worry too much unless is keeps going. If you could take away their kibble meal tomorrow and just try getting as much soup as possible into them that would be wonderful!

Will do. I could not get blood glucose so I will start on raw and make a vet appt tomorrow when I can get them in and have them checked out and blood glucose checked. But I will proceed with caution and watch for any hypoglycemic episodes.

That sounds perfect. I think as long as the boys are getting a little in their system they'll be fine though. Give them both snuggles for me!!

How did they do with their day of soup?

They did OK. They ate around 2 oz a piece and I took it away around 7PM so they could eat some kibble before bed at 10. They eat about .5 oz at a sitting and Riley usually eats twice a day and bubba likes to graze. I was gone yesterday so I will try again today. Also what do you think about the commercial raw in the sense that the bone is crushed by the manufacture? Is the only downside teeth brushing?

They won't get the teeth cleaning or jaw strength. It's also quite a bit more expensive.

I thinkk that if you're wanting to do a commercial grind that you can make a soupie mush out of it and then see how they like that.

My reason for the commercial ground(fresh ground meats/bones/organs) is first I am not sure I will get them to eat bone(we'll see they just might), second I can't find all variations i'd like to feed them like rabbit/quail/etc. I figured if I am going to order meat on line maybe just ordering the whole animal might be good. If I can get them to eat bone I might just give them bones when I feed chicken/turkey and ground with bone in with the quail/rabbit variety. Is there any other disadvantage to some days with ground? Today so far they finished 1 oz a piece of turkey soup but are not liking slivers at all....still trying to chew and then hiding or spitting them out.I will take away raw at 7PM and offer kibble at bedtime.

No I usually feed a ground meal a week. I'll mix ground beef or Turkey with an egg or some oil how thick is your soup?

Their soup is pudding consistency. You could tip a spoon upside down and it would stay on it for a while. They will eat turkey and chicken now. Can't find rabbit/quail/duck though that I would like to try. Is it ok for them to eat wild killed animals??? My husband hunts and can actually get quail/duck/goose/pheasant but it seems like I read somewhere that wild animal is not good for them for some reason.....I can't remember if it was parasite or what.
