sorry if this makes me sound dumb but has anyone heard of ferrets having tattoos anywhere on them beisdes their ears? My Weazy looks like she has some on her lower tummy near her legs on both sides. one side looks like a circle and the other a giant dot. both look like it extends up. i cant find anything on the web on it other than the ears and i know when they were in research they did tattoo them too. but i cant find where. she does have one dot in her ear. ill try to add a link from photo bucket. i1370.photobucket.com/albums/ag262/dizzydars13/10355840_765491823510414_2336935986948730058_n_zps1020623b.jpg

I know that Marshall's has a mysterious toe tattoo. We've all tried for a long time to figure that one out. Not all Marshall's have the toe tattoo and we don't seem to see a common denominator, like a toe tattoo on a deaf ferret or a Waardy. Some people have even tried to get an answer from Marshall's and they don't get an answer. I really don't know what that is. Here is a link about tattoos: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/2908

Someone else mentioned recently that they found a spot on their ferrets stomach but I can't remember who.

the other weird thing is the dots are her ear are black not the usual blue that marshalls does. Im just curious about this because her history isnt known and i didnt know if it could be a breeders mark or she might have been used for research because they do adopt them out sometimes. One of my others is a Marshalls too and she only has the two blue dots in her ear. No other markings.

Those dots are quite strange, never seen them before. Mines ear dots are blue, not black.. it's possible she wasn't the normal every day large marshall mill sold to pet store ones, how cool (giggle)
Out of four I have had 2 have had the toe tats. My Adrian, who was a dark sable male fert who had lymphoma. And the other is my Juliet, a DEW female who is deaf, almost completely blind, and has adrenal disease. So I don't know what's up with the toe marks, like poncesmom said, lots of people have tried to find out what it's about but never an answer. Maybe if one of us just went undercover at the mill.... :ninjastealth:

Ok, just checked the dots.....they're growth rings. Seriously. Your little one is growing their winter coat. It's not a tat. Many people mistake them as bruising but your little one decided to grow their coat in what appears to be a concise circle....it's fur growth pattern. By the end of the month, she will have a gorgeous winter coat. Marshal ear tats can be green, blue or black...I don't know if the colour has significance or not. Atreyu's tats are black so are Boris' but Lady Natasha's are green... ciao
