I actually found another ferret vet in our area that currently has 2 Deslorelin implants, and is willing to order more as needed! This will mean changing vets for the ferrets that are adrenal, but it is a plus in the long run.
So, hopefully if the price is right, next Saturday Mr Man and Crichton will get implanted.
I tried doing some research as to the actual cost of the implant plus shipping, but was unable to find anything. Does anyone that is currently using these implants have a link or anything showing the cost? Just so I can tell what a good honest price would be.

Apparently the implants are on backorder until June or July.

I pay $125 per implant here. I was surprised but very happy to find out my vet had it in stock at all.

That seems to be the issue now isn't .... it's not a matter of if your vet will get them for you but whether they're actually available. I've got need of 3 for July, maybe I'd better put my order in now ciao

That reminds me I need to talk to our vet about getting one for Godiva... While we were all hoping that when I brought her home back in January the fur loss was just fleas and poor nutrion, but her body condition has not changed....her fur is still very thin, she's almost bald at her shoulders, and even though I have been stuffing her with food, she's not gained any weight

Thanks for the heads-up on the Deslorelin backorder, the vet didn't know there was a backlog.
Mr Man and Crichton will be getting their implants this Saturday.
We will also take Dusty with us, in case Mr Man is deemed not a good candidate because of his other issues.
I plan on taking pics and keeping a record to note any progress.

I paid $150 each for mine. That was the lowest price I had heard in my area. Other clinics wanted $175-250, but that included sedation. Not office visit though. Did NOT include pre-sedative bloodwork. In one office they wanted about $700 for two ferrets; that price included office visits, bloodwork, sedative, pain injection, and the implant. The Dr I ended up going to recommended AGAINST sedation. He had done over 100 implants and said it wasn't worth putting the ferret under, since they didn't seem to be in pain or bothered by it. My two girls did fine. So it ended up being around 450 for the two with office visits and some new meds to try out.
Always have to take into account the add-ons so you know what the end bill will be...

Yikes.... I guess it totall depends on the vet then. For 5 I paid $180 to get implanted. But next time it is going to cost $65 per ferret plus the $100 for shipping. So $425 for 5 ferrets.

215 dollar for a 4.7mg implant here, however my vet gets it from another vet in indianapolis.
Takes 4-6 weeks before I saw hair regrowth, their aggression was gone within a week.
Auggie took it like a champ and didnt fight it, Dean did fight quite a bit, its a HUGE needle. My vet didnt glue the hole closed like some do, I would probably ask them to close it with surgical glue if I were you. I've heard of a couple comming back out. I'm going to ask my vet to do it next time. So no sedation was needed for my guys.

Sonny didn't even make a noise when he was implanted and the needle was HUGE i think i felt more pain than he did.

Anyone know if the needle/implant is any larger than the melatonin implant? Just curious. Sinnead didn't get/need any sedation for the melatonin, so I wouldn't imagine any would for des. either.
