Grrr, I hit reply but it must not have processed!
I put together an order from an online supplier for some more exotic meats. I haven't heard too much about this retailer, but I (a) like the layout of their website and (b) their shipping isn't killer.
2lb beef kidney 1lb organ roll (Blend of 50% liver, with the other half as kidney, pancreas, thymus, and spleen) 1lb duck meaty bones ( drumsticks, necks, wings, and backs) 2lb chicken necks 20 chicken feet (treats!) 2lb chicken roll (Chicken, chicken heart, and 10% chicken organs all ground together) 1lb quail roll (Ground, whole quail with 10% organ meat, bone in)
Hoping to use these as supplements to what I can get here (turkey, chicken, pork, beef), plus the meat rolls will be useful for those days I'm not home a lot.
What do you think? Should I look for anything else?

this is a great variety of meat and organs and should be great for them! let see what we have here: -chicken, duck and quail for meaty bone meals, awesome! -beef kidney, you can mix it with liver you're already giving them -meat rolls are great to give them sometimes, it can really help when they are sick and refusing the food. so it's good they are used to it this all is very good with turkey, pork and beef you can already buy have you tried with wide and long chunks yet? and what about their poops, are they nice and firmed when they eat bones? watching the poop is important thing when you have ferrets, i usually say that ferret owners are "the poop persons". we are all obsessed with it

OMG has it been 5 days? Time is going too fast! I was student teaching this week at a new school, I guess I lost track of the days! Sorry to leave you hanging! I'm not doing so well on this updating thing, huh?
I need to go shopping again. I ran out of meats in the middle of the week, so the boys had kibble. Not feeling too great about it, but I've been out of the house every day from 9am to 9pm. And I think I'm getting sick :pullhair:
Plans for the weekend... -Meat shopping. I'm going shopping with my mom in the neighboring city, so I'm hoping to stop at the local bulk store (Sams Club) and get a ton of meats. -I got a lead on chicken necks and backs, so will also be checking that out -And, I found a freezer! Yay. Going to go look at it tomorrow night. It will barely fit between my fridge and washer, but that means I'll have a lot more room to stock up on meals.
I need to encourage the weasels better to eat bones. They are eating the meat from the bone, but not really eating the bone itself. Not sure where the hammer is, but I WILL find it!
New boy is doing well. He's fully switched to a better kibble. My guys don't like him at all, they scruff him so much he poops. Very violent scruffing and shaking. Poor Baxter doesn't appreciate it at all. So, he is separate from the 3 boys for now. I actually have a friend interested in giving him a home (she has 3 girls), so we'll see how that goes! If it doesn't work out with her, he can stay here, but I'd like to find him a home...2 separate playgroups isn't really great for me!

i know what you mean, my Oscar wants to kill new baby Malak when he see him. i'm so affraid to leave them too together and they are still separated. Malak is perfect with cats and girls, only Oscar is a problem. the freezer is "must have" when you have a raw feed ferrets and i'm sooo glad you will get one! ok, so the boys are on kibble right now? let me know when you get the meat and we will start again with small bones

Got my freezer! It's really big, so I will be able to stock up on lots of meat. It's 5 cubic feet, which I think converts to 0.14 cubic meters (hope that helps!)
I found some chicken I didn't know I had, plus my brother brought the meat I was storing in his freezer (LOL), so I have enough to prep some basic meals. I will have to run out to get some bone in meats, but I don't work tomorrow and can spend the evening doing prep. YAY.
I'll update again once I get back from the store.

ok, that's great! Please, when you have a time write down everything they do eat. i assumed that they are eating small bones from your previous posts, but now i see they are only eating the meat from the bone. we have to make them try the bone itself so they can start with biger pieces of meat and the bones are you adding some eggshell powder or bone powder to them? this is really important BC the lack of the calcium can lead to some illnesses and we don't want that.

Right now they are still on kibble (boo!) I had planned to do meal prep Sunday, but it didn't pan out due to other things coming up (and going to pick up my freezer). I seriously need more hours in the day. I have to work tonight, so I don't think I'll be able to get to the store. I don't work tomorrow so I WILL make time to get shopping done them.
When they were getting plain meat, I made sure to add the eggshell powder, though.

Meat is taking over my counters! haha! The fuzzies will be so happy. I made a hard copy of the raw feeding menu, so I can look at it quickly.

haha, about that freezer? i know what you mean we don't have a place for our own meat in our freezer, and it is huge! are they still on kibble or they started to eat meat? now, we need them to eat the bone. do you have a meat chopper maybe? that is also very important thing. you can chop the wings in very small pieces and give them to try the bone. once they are used to eat, you can make that pieces bigger. i know someone posted a pic of chopped wings but i can't find it right now. i'll try tomorrow

Last night they had heart and liver (I'm following the menu exactly lol) and this morning they had chicken backs. I used a hammer to smash them up pretty good. I'll report back to let you know how well they tackled them!

They did really well! All but two little pieces were eaten, and they were working on those as I was prepping their dinner (pork bits)

Mr Baxter went to his new home with a good friend on Saturday. She brought her 3 over for playtime, and they all got along really well. I'm sad, but he deserves a home where he has other ferrets to play with, and it just wasn't working out with my boys.
