Yes he was running around the garden, Ollie wanted to play with him, he then ran backwards and forwards a few times, started retching and then was sick it was a yellow liquid. Unless he keeps doing it or seems worse, I wouldn't worry too much. Yes when I got Ollie as a kit he was very, very underweight he wouldn't eat, I took him to the vets who gave him a steroid injection but did warn me that he wouldn't survive, I used to sit with him day and night hand feeding until he started eating himself, since then he has been fine but always on the slim side, I'm am a little concerned as he is quite slim. He's very active though he has more energy than Oscar also he does only weigh 4 oz less than Oscar so there not much between them is there ? Did he give any kind of indication or diagnosis as to why he thought he wouldn't survive? That seems kinda of weird? I haven't heard from the other mentors yet about his weight, but I will let you know. Yes Oscar is a lovely looking ferrets, he has a cute little face but he's quite aggressive, I do find this with rescue ferrets though. He has a lovely soft and shiny coat which is what I am hoping to see in Ollie but so far Ollie's has remained rough and dry. I feel like some are just more 'bitey' than others too, my little black sable girl will get your nose if your not careful. She rarely bites me, but my kids and hubby she gets all the time. Moody thing. haha I'm feeding kibble because of concerns around Ollie, and because at the moment there not eating the meat as well as I had hoped, I want to feed partial raw to begin with the hope of moving to full raw in the future. These are still good concerns, I was just forwarding on the info. We will work on it. I would be worried about Ollie too if a vet told me he wouldn't survive! Where they say leave 2 meals out per day and extra to snack on is this on full raw ? As I'm only feeding one meal of raw at night.Yes, they prob meant when your on a full raw diet. I would just cut this in half, which is basically what you are doing already. And I think the snack element is just referring to make sure they always have SOMETHING available, which you also do. I'm in the uk and so I can't get stella and chewys freeze dried raw is there an alternative in the uk that's is good to use ? I'm not sure what or where I would get patties from ? I can't get vital essentials over here either, so if anyone knows of a alternative in the uk that would be great.Have you looked through these threads? holisticferret60.proboards.com/board/48/raw-prey-providers In July I will have two more ferret kits, I will start these straight on raw hopefully I will have a good, balanced menu in place before they arrive so I won't have any worries that I'm harming them..Oh, how exciting! Are they are pair? Also rescues? And yes, the sooner on raw the better :0) Ollie has slept more than usual todayDon't stress, it could be a number of reasons...

Could I mix a little raw egg with the meat tonight, they both love egg it might just get Ollie eating it, or would this not be a good idea to mix the two together ?

Regarding Ollie I think the vets thought he wouldn't survive as he was very thin and tiny, I don't think he got much with his litter mates, I think he was possibly the runt of the litter if you get that with ferrets. He was only 7 weeks old at the time.
They have just been out around the garden there full of beans so I hoping they have built up an appetite :-)
Yes they will be a pair of brothers, they are not from a rescue this time, there Ollie's brothers.
The rescues are some distance away from me and I don't have transport so its difficult also the one I did adopt from I have had a bad experience with regarding Oscars injury etc the lady has been very difficult she knew I lost Ollie's brother he died when he went to vets to be neutered leaving Ollie alone , so she was aware of the situation yet she has been very unpleasant :-(

Egg is perfectly fine to mix in to get them to eat it! The general rule is no more than 1-2 eggs per ferret a week, but to get them to eat it it's fine to use! Do they like any kind of oils? That is a good one too

Poor Ollie has just had a rough time of it. How long ago did he loose his brother?

I bet they do!

Can't wait to see pics! Is it s breeder then? That's my goal is to get a breeder ferret! Mine are pet store and rescues that were likely from pet stores also. The breeders are just so lovely.

I agree, that would rub me the wrong way also. Hopefully his wound heals and does better.

That's certainly frustrating. But, from what I have heard from other mentors, even if you had to resort to just feeding the grind they will live a long happy healthy life! So you are good, no matter what happens in the end. :0)

These sell the minces with bone organs, they have rabbit and pheasant and some quail birds, only thing is its 15 pounds delivery and I would have to Order from raw 2 go as well, raw 2 go is also cheaper delivery but don't do the rabbit mince or quail birds lol
however I'm glad there ok on the minces if this is all they will eat then I'm not worried as long as they eat it, and I can get them to eat some extra bone!

Yes so think I will stick with raw 2 go for the time being.
Iv just been out with some meat on a tiny spoon I tried Ollie he won't touch it, I tried hand feeding he just spat it out so based on this I think Oscar is eating the meat and Ollie is going without all night, this is maybe why he is thinner and his coat is nowhere as good as Oscars.
The meat is lamb but does have some beef and heart mixed in as I'm trying to you up what's left in freezer , I have seen Ollie eat some meat in the past but not sure what protein it was and I don't know whether he is doing what he has done in the past and just go right off all meat, Ollie is hard work lol

What a bugger! Have you reviewed and/or tried the 'scruff and stuff' techniques? I was able to get my Ollie (Oliver) to eat that way. Also, if you really feel like they are eating the kibble better, you can try crunching up about a tablespoon or less of kibble and sprinkling it on top of the meat. I used that for Pepe and it worked. Also, maybe if you take some warm water and mix it with the grinds it will be a little more soup like (and some like it warm). These are all things I would try to get Ollie interested.

Right ok yes I will try adding a small amount of kibble and some warm water see how that goes :-)
he lost his brother when he was 8 months so 4 months ago :-(
yes its its a breeder, i do try to rescue but it is difficult where I live, the breeder is very good he brings all the kits to me so I can see them all and mum, he feeds them raw so good start, Ollie was fed raw as a kit so I'm confused as to why he won't eat it now lol!!

He is just a silly boy! Have you asked the breeder for suggestions? Just cause they are in your area, they might have some advice on it.
