I know this is a crazy week for you, don't worry about me. I will keep posting and you just worry about getting thru the last of this semester.
Everyone finished off the chicken wings and around lunchtime, I put out Beef slices and chunks. No one would take any beef. Even Wynstan turned up his nose. Last week everyone loved the beef. I think that they filled up on chicken wings. Around dinnertime, Roamy was really hungry. He wouldn't eat any beef, so I pureed it and offered it to him with a spoon. He ate and ate. Then Juliet showed up and had alot of soup. Wynstan also had some soup. They finished off the soup. When I got ready for bed, I chopped up some chicken wings and left a plate out, for overnight. The plate was mostly gone, when I got up this morning.
Today will be chicken wings and Pork Loin. I've had such success with wings lately, so I'm pushing them, in this weeks menu plan.
Roamy is asleep on my lap, as I type. I'll post the menu plan later and also weigh everyone.
:thankyou:

Perfect, Keep pushing them! How big are the bone pieces right now? Have you friend increasing the size yet? How is Mika doing on her special slivers? How big, and what sliver:soup ratio? Just a heads up as well, school is getting really crazy really fast. I will be mostly out for the next 2.5 weeks. I will still check in if/when I can but Sherry will be taking over for me temporarily until I am done with finals. Last test is the 9th. Sherry has a lot of personal experience with super pick fuzz too so maybe she'll even have some fresh ideas for little Miss Mika! Give the Terrific Trio and the Picky Princess all hugs and scritches from me!

Good Morning (wave)
I'll be in good hands with Sherry. No worries, and we will still be here in a few weeks.
The bone pieces are graduating in size. When I chop the chicken wings, I chop small and tight, toward the elbow and then get bigger and bigger towards the wing tip. All four of the wings have been gone in the morning.
Yesterday with the pork loin, I minced some and then added slices. In the afternoon, I chopped a chicken wing and added it into the sliced pork. They all love pork and ate it all. That loin was about 4 oz.
As for Mika's soup, all I did yesterday was puree a little loin into soup and pour it over her pieces. She was fine with that and also ate off the others plate. Her energy level is very high, right now.
We are following last weeks menu and so today was organ soup. Half pork kidney about 4oz and half chicken livers. While I was making the soup, everyone (except Mika) had a slice or two of kidney. Roamy, Juliet and Mika love soup and ate some, about 1 to 2 oz each. Wynstan is not fond of soup, but he did have some and carried a slice of kidney off. He dropped it on the laundry room floor, though.
Tonight will be chicken wings again.
I'm looking forward to the next word, that your poor tired brain finds amusing. (giggle) I'll give my little guys your hugs and scritches, and please give Koda and Kenai, the same from me.
:thankyou:

Good Morning (wave)
Yesterday was organ soup and chicken wings. As I posted, the soup went over okay. No one came back for seconds though. The chicken wings on the other hand, are all gone.
Today will be turkey and gizzards. I will also put out some chicken wings, since we are moving along nicely with those.
I weighed Roamy again yesterday, no weight loss, his poops are fine and his energy level is good.
:thankyou:

Okay. I've gone back over a few pages. Little Miss Mika really is being a diva isn't she Are you still giving her the bits with "gravy"? If so, start increasing both number and size(slightly), and start watering down the puree. What you are aiming for with her is to ultimately have the meat just moistened with water as you increase the sizes With the others, just keep increasing size. Are they all using a feeding den by chance? that helped some of mine with the stashing tremendously once trained to it.

I just thought of something that might explain Mika. Our Suki was eating whole pieces, lamb's neck, as well as other heavier bones(chopped up first). She got a chunk of lamb neck stuck in her mouth one day to an extent that she really scared herself. We wound up pulling it loose, but she would have ultimately been able to do so. Ever since then I have had one heck of a time getting her to eat even smashed up chicken necks. We have been working her very slowly and now are at a point of 1" long thin pieces of muscle meat(she gets CFR daily). Could Mika have done something like this, maybe got it loose, but became afraid of eating bone? Main reason I'm asking is that if so, you are going to have to go very slowly with her. Much more so than you would have otherwise.

Good Morning (wave)
Mika is quite the spoiled baby. She is fine with chicken gizzards in large chunks. She is eating small pieces with just the puree over it. She is also now, eating some of the chopped chicken wings. I heard her crunching some bones, this morning. The wing was chopped into small pieces, starting gradually larger towards the tip.
Wynstan stashes everything, after he has eaten. I discovered a new stash spot, this morning. Everyone was disappearing under a dresser and I would hear...crunch crunch crunch. I stayed still and just listened. All four of them took turns going under and eating. They were eating the chicken wings from last night, that Wynstan stashed. I had put four wings out and when I checked this morning, all the wings were gone.
I have tried a feeding den, no one is interested. I am using a plate, because I saw where Bitbyter suggested that bowls will block their line of sight. So, I began using large flat plates and yesterday, I had three at the plate.
Their food station is in the kitchen, right next to the laundry room. So, when someone finds a chunk, they will take it into the laundry room. I always check the laundry room, after everyone has eaten. Juliet is also all about stashing and unless it is soup, she will grab a slice or chunk and run off. Roamy stays at the plate and so does Wynstan. But anytime I put out larger pieces, Wynstan stashes them. I can't leave them out and expect them to remain there.
The menu plan that I am using this week, is the same as last week. But every night, I put out chicken wings. I learned that from you, when you suggested to someone, that they should feed chicken wings, three days in a row.
This morning, is organ soup. I pureed pork brains with chicken livers and added hearts. I do have a question about the meal and a half of hearts. If my organ soup is liver and brains, how much hearts will I use, to have a "half" meal. Today, I used six hearts to about 6 ounces of brains and liver. They love the soup (well, Wynstan prefers chunks to soup), but everyone had a little soup. I froze some and will leave the rest of the soup out today.
:thankyou:

We are posting at the same time.
I have never seen Mika choke. When we brought her home, I would leave a chicken wing or thigh in her cage, at night. I didn't chop it, but she ate all the meat, off of it and chewed the bone a little. She was quite small and only stayed in her cage for the first week.
Until her switch, she ate FDR (reconstituted) and also chicken, chicken gizzards and several times a week, we tried a new protein. I think she is just lazy. I also thing that she might be eating some of Wynstan's stash at night. She was rather quiet, this winter. Now that it is spring, she is up and about alot and her energy level is great. I also believe that she gets up alot at night and wanders around and plays by herself. She is not big on breakfast, and that also makes me believe she is eating more, in the middle of the night.

Good Evening.
The morning soup went quite well. I hand fed Mika and she ate five spoonfuls of soup and then on the sixth spoon, I added a piece of heart. She finished the spoon and grabbed the piece and ran off. She ate it, though. Then when she came back, I offered another spoon and she was full.
Tonight, I put out a plate of chicken thigh. (I'm out of wings) and Roamy and Mika, both met me at the "dinner table". They were hungry and started eating, right away. I had chopped the thigh meat and left it in big pieces. She was happily eating quite a large piece. I came downstairs to finish getting ready for tomorrows meal and I will check on her again, in a little bit. Tonight's question is about chicken thighs. I know that bones are non- weight bearing bones, but could I chop the thigh bone up into tiny pieces? I left the bone out, since I was not sure.
:thankyou:

I often feed thighs and drumsticks. Best bet is to chop them into a few sections to expose the marrow. And that is good about Mika! 'Twas just a thought on my part

Good Morning (wave)
Yesterday was pureed beef with an egg in it. Wynstan doesn't like soup, very much. Mika and Juliet love it. I left heart chunks in it and the girls ate quite alot. I put Wynstan on my lap and he had some soup. He also munched on the heart pieces. Roamy ate some soup also. Juliet came back for more and insisted on sitting on my lap and being hand fed. She isn't high maintenance and I don't mind spoiling her, once and awhile.
Dinner was chicken wings. Everyone had some dinner and even Mika crunched some bones. The wings were all gone, this morning.
I feel like we made some progress with Mika, last week. She is eating bigger pieces and I have heard her crunching bones.
I will build this weeks menu plan and post it, a little later. I also need to go to the store and get some CGH and hopefully find some turkey wings. Its Turkey Hunting season here and the stores don't stock much Turkey.
Have a Good Afternoon and :thankyou:

Good Morning. (wave)
Everyone ate well yesterday. We are in need of a grocery store run. It was stormy yesterday, and we didn't get out to the store.
I've been pushing the chicken wings, and everyone loves chicken. All four will eat big pieces and even Mika is crunching on little pieces of bone. Now, everyone is holding out for chicken. Monday, we had some pork. They love pork and dinner was chicken thighs. I chopped the thigh bone into three segments and split it down the middle. Wynstan carried off a few pieces, and everyone else munched a little.
:thankyou:

Good Morning (wave)
Dinner last night was chicken necks and chopped pork loin. Our dinner was shrimp. While I was getting everyone's dinner ready, Roamy asked for a piece of shrimp. He loves fish and shrimp, so I gave him several pieces. He ate them all. I offered everyone else a piece and they sniffed them, but were not interested. The chicken and pork were for the most part, gone, this morning.

Hello (wave)
This morning is pork kidney/pork liver soup with some chunks of pork, mixed in. Everyone ate most of the soup. Wynstan isn't big on soup, so I dipped pieces of pork loin in the soup and he was happy.
Poops seemed a little soft, so I added a 1/8 tsp of eggshell powder to the soup. The soft poops were probably from some dried hearts, they snacked on yesterday. I was cleaning the ferret shelf and had alot of help from all four. They know the dried heart container and just kept pushing the container, under my feet.
