Anyone else feeding soupies have ferrets as messy as mine? I get splattered with soup multiple times a day. Either from their shaking their head, spitting it out or being squirmy.

Bruce especially just will not try soupies, which is interesting, because he's our youngest at 1.5 years. You dab some on his nose, he wipes it off on your shirt

Bought a brand new coffee grinder, washed it, washed the egg shells and let them dry but when I ground up the egg shells there is a burnt smell....is this normal or did i do something wrong??? Did not add it into the mix because i thought it may have a strong burnt taste and the ferrets would not eat it.They are licking a little at the spoon of soupie.......is it ok to let them eat kibble between me trying to feed them the soupie??? It seems like I read on here about bacterial growth if you do this in their tummies??

The smell is normal Especially if a couple weren't quite dry enough. As for putting the kibble back in, what I suggest is removing it a couple hours before offering the raw. Dab noses/offer licks of the raw puree every 5-10 minutes while they are out playing. Stop about 30min before they go back in cage and put the kibble back in then.

Hi! I've decided to make a batch of this raw soup for Vanilla and did everything by the step except that I didn't mix in any water or anything extra to make it more liquid. She ate almost all of her portion, definitely at least 2/3rds of it. She definitely liked it but I don't know if it's normal that she fell asleep almost right after. She usually runs around a bit when she had her normal kibble food, but the insulinoma also gives her days where she's more sleepy. Do you think it's normal that she was that sleepy? Maybe just digesting the food? Thank you for this simple recipe for a beginner like me!

My guys will lick a little at the spoon then run like I am trying to poison them....normal I am guessing.....but at what point do you add something to entice or scruff and stuff??? Also what is their poop suppose to look like when they are eating the soup more normally?? Is there anything I need to give my guys when they are eating the raw diet more to prevent constipation???

I think I'll have to rethink the schedule in terms of making her run before eating (not too long or her sugar levels would fall) because today, she fell asleep again after eating half that portion. Even a few hours later, she's snoozing it off.

When they first try running off do not let them. Reposition them at the dish on you lap and keep offering from the spoon another two or three times. Don't forget they are accustomed to grabbing a mouthful of kibble and carrying on all day long. They have to learn to simply sit and eat.

My two guys are eating the soup at a ratio of about 1 tablespoon of soup to a fourth of a teaspoon of egg yolk every other day at this time. They love egg yolks and I tend to give them each half about every 10 days so putting just a hint in the soup to get them to eat is working but I am trying not to overdue the egg yolk.....is this alright or should I be trying a different technique???Of course they are still mainly eating kibble but are at least eating a small amount of soup on at least every other day basis:)I am doing every other day because my one guy has a very sensitive stomach and I am trying to make sure he tolerates it.
