Great! I am trying to build up their jaw strength. They seem to do okay with turkey necks and I will try them with the ribs n wing tips. I will give you updates on how it goes. I'm so proud of my girls.

Definitely need to cut the chicken as you mentioned Won't be long before they start refusing it entirely(they start getting picky about eating the same thing too often, lol. And with the bone in, you need to cut some of the wings(3-4 meals) with drumsticks/thighs as it is too bone heavy right now. Later on when you can find them, pork rib ENDS, pork button bones, Cornish hen, turkey necks, ribs, duck necks, ribs. Heart needs increasing by at least one full meal of nothing but heart. If heart is hard to find you need to start supplementing with taurine powder. One 500mg capsule daily per ferret.

I know, they are already growing tired of the chicken I can tell. I will get some chicken drumsticks and they have some thighs as well. I forgot I had them in the freezer. I found them last night. I'm still working on trying to find these other foods you mention. My store was fresh out of hearts n gizzards. I couldn't understand it. Where would I find the taurine powder?

Talk to the meat manager in the store. You may be able to order a case of chicken hearts(10lbs). Just thaw, repackage, and freeze. Taurine powder you can get at a health food store or order it online.

Do you have a farmer's market, open market, or any ethnic places around at all? That's where you can get other proteins easily. Also, start introducing things like pork chunks, or beef chunks.

The closest thing I have around is an Ingles food store with a meat department then I have a Wal Mart a lil further. It has a lil wider selection of meats. I have given them raw beef tips and raw cut up beef strips which they loved but weren't so crazy about pork unless it was hog jowls.

Okay. Start including the beef tips on a weekly basis. With the pork you might have to just try some other cuts. Also- you CAN use a bit of "tough love" on them. My guys aren't that fussed about chicken wings. I give one wing per two ferrets, but segmented. If they don't eat them, next meal just gets topped up a bit. You can do the same with whatever meat you are using. Honestly? Head to the Walmart. You should be able to get some cornish hens there at the very least, and I know others can get a variety of heart proteins.

I recently gave my girls a whole chicken breast to share. They devoured it! Sadie would take her turn then later on Carrie would chow down. It was pretty big so I wasn't sure how they would take it if they would take it at all. Yes, my Wal Mart usually has a pretty wide selection of meats especially chicken. I also have some ground turkey mince meat in the freezer. Also, can they have pork sausage? I was curious about that. They seem to love everything I have been giving them. The egg yolks we're still working on. Sadie loves it but Carrie will usually ignore it unless I give it to her in a syringe. Are there any other tips you can give me?

That is great about the breast!!! As for sausage- no. Not at all. Nothing altered, spiced, smoked, salted, brined, etc. Ground turkey is fine as a muscle meat As is plain pork. Does the walmart at least have Cornish hen? They will be in the freezer section. Please print off the first post in this thread, take it WITH you to walmart, and see what they have. If you can't find things talk to someone in the meat department. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/146/meat-bone-organ-weekly-menuThey NEED to be on more proteins to meet their nutritional requirements.
