Well, not all is easy with little miss Miya. She decided yesterday to turn up her nose at any chunks. She skipped 2 meals with little to no food eaten. I fed quail the one night and the next morning I tried pork. She ate a couple small pieces of quail (that I fed to her.. unsure if she ate anymore.. it didn't look like it) and the pork looked very untouched the next meal. So last night I fed her chicken with a bit of "soupie gravy" on top. I felt a little worried that she wasn't eating enough, but at the same time I try not to give in right away and give her soupie or prefered non-chewing meals, as I want her to eat her chunks. But the chicken with soupie gravy was a hit. She at all but 2 little pieces. The chunks were still pretty good size, about middle finger-thumb nail size. Today was lamb so she ate right away (since commercial raw allows her not to chew) Lazy girl! Tonight is beef, which is not her favorite. So I will use the rest of the soupie on this meal. I only use about 1/2 a cube per meal when it is used as a gravy topper. Guess I shouldn't have spoken so soon I'll keep working at it!

Well, past couple days have been OK. She is eating commercial raw fine for sure. lol. She also ate some chicken last night. No soupie. Today I fed quail. She ate all of her pieces.... after she was put back in her cage! Naughty ferret got out and spent the day cruising my place alone I guess. Not too much amiss. Didn't even knock over my cup of cold tea on her adventures on the computer desk (but it looked like someone tried hacking into the computer, which was locked out due to all the incorrect passwords! haha)

Tonight was miya's first organ meal. Complete success! I dabbed it on her mouth one time and voila! She ate and ate.. And ate. . It all. . At once! Haha. I got more out of the freezer and fed her again. She continued eating. I was amazed. So happy this was a win

Weight - consistent Poop/Pee - good Energy- Good. So that night when I fed Miya another serving of organs I woke up in the morning to find them all gone! Today was hearts and chicken so far. She didn't eat a lot of hearts last night so I added some to her chicken back meal. She ate more today. I find if she doesn't show interest in a food she will usually take a piece or two from me, then usually gains interest. I also find a gentle scruff and hold gets her eating (no stuff required, just scruff near food). Last night Miya enjoyed some raw egg. I got her to try a lick off the fork I whipped it up with. Then she ate about 1/4 of the egg The others finished it off for her. So I have not been using the soupie gravy. Not recently anyways. I need to make more soupie, I purchased organs today so I will make soupie at the same time (can use the organs and don't have to dirty the food processor twice... I blend my organs)

Wow, sorry long time no post! Didn't realize how long it has been! Weight- 2lbs! ps. I rounded up from 1lb 15.9oz (up a couple of oz since I got her) Energy- awesome Poops- Good Miya is eating most everything. She LOVES commercial raw and organs! (lazy girl! ahah) She eats chicken the best. She quite likes it bone and all. No issues eating bone with this one thank goodness. I fed her pork with the white bones (I don't know what cut that is exactly, I buy the breast bones and throw away the dense bone in the middle but keep the white rib-like bones) anyways, she ate the piece of pork and the bone! Those white bones don't break so they take a long time to eat but she laid there and chewed for a long time to eat it all up. It was hilarious as her back leg kept creeping up to her side to "pet" her as she ate.... very odd girl felt she needed rewarding for her hard chewing efforts! The only meat she is not fond of is beef. She will eat some but I need to cut it much smaller than other meats. About pinky nail size. The other meats she eats are about 3/4 of my thumb (the finger, not the nail) size. So almost full size to what my others get. I do find she is such a SMALL eater though. With any chunks she does not seem to eat much. Just lots of whatever she doesn't have to chew. I often need to offer her her piece of meat in order for her to gain interest as well. I don't know why this is... it is only with the chunks of meat. But she will often eat the chunk I offer her right away. If she doesn't want it she takes it and puts it back in her dish. lol.

Updates?

sure There haven't been many chances since my last update a week ago however. Miya is on all the proteins I offer with anything she doesn't have to chew being the favorite. She does amazing with bones and chicken wings/backs are her favorite. She still doesn't love beef but is eating some. Although she is holding steady at 2lbs she still looks so slim to me. I wish she would eat a little more. There are times she will skip an entire meal (like yesterday morning) and not eat till the evening meal. This freaks me out but she does do it once in a while, only when they are chunks that I'm offering. But the type of meat varies. Yesterday she skipped a quail meal and she loves quail. Can skipping meals be normal? I always worry when I see uneaten food but her energy levels etc are still good.

Perfectly normal Ferrets are very good at moderating their intake according to what their bodies need as a rule. As long as behaviour is normal I'd not worry at all. It does sound like she's completed her switch! I gather she does fine with heart/liver/organ?

Thanks Sherry! I was worried about her skipping meals as my others don't do this. She loves loves loves organs! I puree mine and she eats lots in one meal! She is also good with hearts. I still cut them at least in half usually but she does eat them pretty well. I'm still working on chunk size but for the most part she eats the same size as everyone else. I'm just happy she eats her bones! I have never had to smash them up or anything! What a good girl I would agree... She is switched!
