Ah! Okay, I misunderstood. Yeah, what you say makes sense. I think I was mentally not counting the fish as "edible bone" for some reason, even though I personally typed in that it had the bones in it. The brain works in funny and mysterious ways sometimes. (Or, at least, mine does! ) So here we are with a revised menu: Monday: Turkey necks Tuesday: Chicken wings and ground beef Wednesday: Turkey necks and chicken hearts Thursday: Whole fish Friday: Turkey necks and ground beef Saturday: Chicken wings and ground beef Sunday: Turkey necks and chicken livers How's that?

Personally, I'd think of moving ground beef to days where you have double turkey necks. Chicken rmbs (except backs) have more meat on the bone than turkey necks, and you might find that double turkey neck days are too heavy on bone after awhile. Giving a muscle meat meal on those days will help break up that large amount of bone

Yeah, I am indeed finding out that very thing. I don't think I'll be buying anymore turkey necks once I go through this batch.
They do have a lot of meat on 'em, mind. But they are also some very large bones, and the weezils are leaving a lot of bone behind (and, thus, depriving themselves of the benefit of eating the bones in the first place). They are eating SOME bone, I should stress. Just not all of it. I've been chopping up the bones as best I can and/or pulverizing them with a hammer to try and get as much as possible inside the ferrets, but even with that, they still leave lots of little bone pieces all over.
Anyhow, I don't have a problem making the suggested switch.

Chicken and duck necks are better, in my experience, though fed too frequently, they come out looking EXACTLY as they did going in, which suggests an overload for that one sitting.

Weigh in
Dixie 1 lb 14 oz (no change from last week) Dogfish 1 lb 15 oz (down 1 oz from last week) Chimay 1 lb 7 oz (down 1 oz from last week)
I've been transitioning them to fish. Dogfish and Chimay have been resistant. Especially Dogfish. I've been making raw soup with fish meat, and he'll eat it if I scruff him and will eat it from the spoon after that, but he won't eat it from the bowl. Chimay will eat it from the bowl now, but it took her a week or so to warm up to it. Dixie was eating from the bowl by the third day.
Funny that Dixie was my most reluctant transition to raw, but has been the fastest to switch to fish.
Sooooo...what else do you need from me? I mentioned that I was cool with making your last suggested switch, so as far as I can tell, we're done?

A gentler fish, like tilapia, is sometimes a better starting point. It's blander, and the pungency of other fish may be putting them off.
I'd like to see some organ, besides liver in there, are we any closer to finding something like kidney or anything? Since fish is fed once weekly, it may be best, before graduating, to actually get them to eat it reliably, that way they are settled onto the menu before it goes through it's final review.

It's "whiting" fish, whatever that is. Chimay and Dixie are both eating it. Just gotta bring Dogfish around.
Also checked with my local supermarket. They inform me that they can get 12-15 lbs of beef kidney for $1.09/lb. Should have some next Wednesday.
Also scored a huge pork shoulder on clearance for $1.29/lb. Gonna see what they think of it in just a bit.

Okie dokie. Not much to report at present. Weezils have regressed a bit and aren't eating things they used to eat with gusto. Trying to work through that.

Forgot to weigh 'em earlier this week. Here's the weigh-in:
Dogfish 2 lbs Chimay 1 lb 6 oz Dixie 1 lb 14 oz
Chimay has lost weight because she just hasn't been eating. Fed her tonight and she ate several chunks of pork. So hopefully we'll see a turnaround.

They can be stubborn. Keep doing what you are doing for now! They'll get back on track
