For now just get Zuko eating the puree. He's just being a brat! And anyway you are using can be slivered! Just cut it into bits.

I gave Aang and Sokka chicken hearts for the first time. They tried eating them but they stashed them in a grubby corner so not sure if they will finish :/

If they don't eat them, try pureeing and hand feeding until they get the taste for them Then just move up through sliver, chunks, etc.

I tried cutting them up in quarters and they seemed to do better on that. For the next ones I made sure they marinated in the other stuff. Just as I was writing this though Aang came running down the hall to the living room in under a cupbard with one in his mouth... hmm I guess I need to cut them up more and put fewer in haha!
Zuko is doing better he takes less coaxing now and eats more! I haven't been adding ferretone on top and there are some chunkier small bits that he will lick at and chew on.
I have noticed that their coats are super silky fluffy and soft. This is only the second winter I've had them so not sure if it's a seasonal thing.
1. Ferret's name: Aang 2. Ferret's weight: 1.36kg he's getting visibly chunky!! 3. Eating around 2-3 oz per day 4. stools have been small, more formed, and some have been kind of a dark colour, maybe from blood? 5. Activity levels: great
1. Ferret's name: Sokka 2. Ferret's weight: 1.08kg 3. Eating around 2-3 oz per day. I think he eats less when Aang eats more, he seems to go 2nd. 4. some kinda soft, some seedy 5. Activity levels: great.
1. Ferret's name: Zuko 2. Ferret's weight: 1.12kg 3. Eating around 3-5 spoonfuls of the mix per day in one or two meals 4. Soft stools, but not always seedy, definitely smaller and not all piled up like they used to be. a bit more formed. 5. Activity levels: normal

Picked up some more stuff today since I had run out. I got more pig tongue and liver since they liked that stuff so much. Doing 2" pieces instead of 1". I need to pick up some necks for their bone content. They seem to be eating the quartered heart better than whole.

Oh and Zuko is eating about an ounce per meal right now and doing pretty well. He doesn't have to be coaxed as much but he's still kinda hesitant and he has this sort of grossed out look on his face while he eats haha. He doesn't like getting meat slime on his paws or his whiskers! What a diva.

Zuko ate a whole THREE OUNCES in one meal last night! So impressed. And I saw him munching away on some bigger pieces that didn't get chopped in the blender. Is this what you're looking for? For Zuko: 3-4 ounces daily of mush consisting of chicken breast, cat milk, egg shell, and mix of cow/pig heart and liver. Not sure if me adding water sometimes throws off this weight but he seems to hate when it's cold and I don't want to microwave it so I try to add a splash of warm water. ~ For Aang and Sokka: varies depending on schedule, what I have thawed, and if I run out of stuff Monday 4 oz mix of chicken back/pig tongue/pig kidney. Ratio is about 1oz chicken back/neck, 1 oz liver,2 oz tongue Tuesday " Wednesday " Thursday " Friday " Saturday " + 2-3 chicken hearts Sunday " + 2-3 chicken hearts To this mix I plan to add neck since I have run out of chicken back. I figure about 1-2 necks a day would take care of their bone spread out through the week. The kidney is their organ and the tongue is their muscle meat. Then the chicken hearts I put that in twice because it's hit and miss so far whether they are eating it or not. Sometimes I will add in chicken meat. Once a week egg or pumpkin, no particular day of the week. Occasional freeze dried chicken or fish, and oils.

Okay, you need to cut WAY back on the liver. Maximum 2oz a week per ferret Same as the kidney. Tongue is used as a muscle meat. Okay, this is a good time to also start getting more variety as well. Both in muscle meats as well as bone in meats. A couple days a week add in some thigh or drumstick with those bones smashed. Chicken wings are another good one. Cornish hen allows a different protein as well as more edible bone.

Sorry I meant kidney when I said liver. I don't have access to cornish hen. Chicken wings are quite expensive so I've been trying to avoid those. I will cut back on the kidney then and try to get some more boney stuff!

That is cool! Like very slow piranhas...
Did you still need me to post the menu since I did just a few days ago? Here's the individual ferret update
. Ferret's name: Aang 2. Ferret's weight: 1.38kg ahh he is tubby. 3. Eating around 2-3 oz per day 4. stools have been small, more formed, and some have been kind of a dark colour and soft 5. Activity levels: great
1. Ferret's name: Sokka 2. Ferret's weight: 1.13kg 3. Eating around 2-3 oz per day. 4. stools have been more formed and kind of a caramel colour, less seedy looking but still soft 5. Activity levels: great.
1. Ferret's name: Zuko 2. Ferret's weight: 1.12kg 3. Eating around 2-3oz of the mix per day in one or two meals 4. Soft stools, but not always seedy, definitely smaller and not all piled up like they used to be. a bit more formed. 5. Activity levels: gets tired quicker. I'm not sure if he's bored or not getting along as well with the other ferrets so he will harass them for a while then bop around then go to bed :/ I can't tell if it's from the diet or social reasons.
I find all of them seem to be doing this thing where they will make like they are going to the bathroom (standing backed up to a corner with tail slightly raised) but go back and forth like they aren't sure if they need to poop or not. Then when they do it's a little tiny squishy poop... Could they be constipated or something? Maybe they are just weird I dunno. I have been noticing this because I am still litter training when they are out of their room and it gets frustrating when I need to wait a second to be sure they aren't just standing there...
Zuko is doing better. I can set the dish down in front of him and leave the room. He'll eat up an ounce or so no problem without supervision. I just have to be sure he is alone otherwise the other two come in and steal his food.
Zuko has also started a new habit of chewing on the couch and faux leather ottoman... he never had any chewing problems before. Could that be a lack of crunchiness in his diet? Aang and Sokka have improved in that area since getting bones often.

Kidney AND liver, only 2 oz of each per ferret per week They NEED liver in there as well. so for yours, they would need, in total, 6 oz kidney, 6 oz liver. Tongue is a muscle meat. Which is throwing the ratio WAY off. Try aiming for 8-9 meals a week of edible bone, 3-4 meals a week of muscle meat, 1 meal a week of heart, and 1 meal of liver/kidney. Given that you are using chicken frames as bone in you can flesh that out by adding a bit from a chicken thigh/drumstick, turkey thigh/drumstick meat, stewing beef(or other cheap cut), goat or lamb if you can get it cheap. Duck and/or goose is another one. Take a good look around your local stores, butcher's, or ethnic market if any are nearby. See what else you can add And they ALL have a lack of bone in their diet, which is the reason for the backing up you are now seeing. The bowel doesn't have enough bulk to push against. Your balance needs a drastic change, but we'll get them there
