Thank the lord ! boy I was so angry when I read of the treatment the vet gave ! he is one lucky ferret ( and sorry but I have to say it that is one stupid vet!) I would ask about antibiotics and ease up on the lube after tomorrow for a day or two just to let his stomach and bowel settle once you see a normal poop add a little oil ( man the poor guys insides must be sore from constant pushing ) just hoping he doesn't develop a stress ulcer from all this why oh why don't vets realise how important and serious blockages are ? you often get the same response with heat stroke lots of vets don't realise a ferrets brain can cook in five mins so therefore the head must always be kept cool ( believe me I have dealt with lots of near death from heat stroke at shows when even though there are vets present they don't have a clue ! ) time a lot of vets did a refresher course on ferrets especially as they are close to top of the list in the pet stakes ! you have no idea how relieved I am to read that blockage is almost completely on its way out take care bye for now crazy lady

Thank god. I was so worried about your little boy. I'm so happy he is pooping again and eating some food and drinking on his own.

Thx guys and gals Talked to vet again this afternoon. His stools are a dark blacky green, liquid. He's passing a bit of what looks like vaseline, which we started giving yesterday, so some things are getting through. He's not vomiting, and I'm syringe feeding small amounts of baby food, and alternating with pumpkin/oil. Nothing wrong with his chompers he's distroyed 3 syringes by chomping down when using them. He's not showing any signs of pain on palp still, and is no longer restless, he's been sleeping very soundly today (good or bad not sure) He will run to the litter and back to bed, but thats about it. vet feels this is all small improvements still. Made an appointment for tomorrow. If no real improvement by then, I think I've decided to go with surgery.

my goodness...if you didn't already have grey hair... I'm pretty sure you do now! (nothing about age, just stress...I found my first grey at 27 ) I hope that there is more improvement, I've been so worried about Neka all day, even smuggled my nook into work and "stole" the wireless so I could check up on ya'll! A special prayer to St Francis for your little fuzzbutt tonight!

awww thx Rose. I'm sorry to make you worry.... though I'm not sure he is, he's soaking up the extra attention and cuddles. Came back on to say..... NEKA ATE ON HIS OWN!! I dont think I've ever been so happy about something so simple. I gave him another dose of pumpkin then put him in his cage. There was some left overs from my little girl in there (a mushed meat mix) and he finished it off (about 1 tbsp) so i put more in there, he didn't want more... but he ATE ON HIS OWN! First time I've seen him eat since sunday morning. Now if he would just give a decent poop i think i'd faint from over excitement! Night all thank you and sorry for making you ride the roller coaster with me, but I'm so thankful to have you all there/here. xo

That's wonderful news! Eating is a good thing! *sigh* I'm a worry wart by nature and for the most part I control it pretty good, but, I had to check to make sure Neka was improving and doing ok.
*Now a couple weeks ago I let my worry wartedness (real word? eh it works for me) get out of control and irrational ended up driving 30 min to my sisters house had her key in my hand and was fully expecting the worst...needless to say she scolded me and let me know that "Your not my mom!" Whatever our mom sucks and I raised you two (my sis's are about 8 and 9 years younger than me) She had jury duty that day and couldnt answer her phone or return texts and when she got home she took a nap...the reason she wasn't answering her phone after being at the court house...

That is indeed wonderful news. Eating on their own is something that one looks for as a starting point for repair. Good luck, we're still sending healing prayers ciao

He ate some turkey chunks this morning, and was begging to come out of cage, but he just looks so... hung over ..is the best description. He's got lax matted to his fur (as he would shake his head every time i tried to give it to him) some pumpkin coloured chin, his face is still drawn, pinker looking from not eating/drinking right. I cuddled him and put him back in to sleep, he seems ok with that.
There were some runny and some more formed stools this morning. The colour is way off still...greens and blacks..... still expecting to see more orangey stools?? but not?? that concerns me a bit, but on whole feel he is greatly improving.

Sounds like he's making progress. If he is eating that is a good sign.

Don't forget- it's a very stressful thing for them to have to go through. His stools are going to show that as a result as well. It took Lucrezia several days to get over hers, and she passed a piece of foam the size of my pinky nail.
