Well mine will eat chicken drumsticks, for him you might have to smash the leg bone up a bit with a hammer so he can get at it and chew on it more easily. Mine are big fan of pork bones if you can find them. My grocery sells them cheap in packs of random bone cuts, sometimes they are small, sometimes they need to be cleavered into two or three pieces. Pork necks and tails will also work, but you'll want to cut them up a bit as well. If you can get a whole chicken, you can give him like the breast and half rib cage at a time, those should be fairly soft. Rabbits are great too if you have access to them. Oxtail is a smaller beef bone you could hack into edible pieces.

My boys go to town on these big chunks of pork bone, I find a little crumbled up bit of it a week later, and that's all that's left of it. It takes a while for them to build up the jaw strength, but he'll get there. How's doomie today?

The doctor of Doom is doing good, I've started giving him a little of the zupreem he's taking it out of my hands so I assume he likes it. They are much harder nuggets than the marshals, but he chomps them up pretty good so far, we were running out of the marshals and I figured it couldn't hurt if he transitioned off of it anyways. So anyways I turned some of the marshals to powder and mixed the zupreem with it. While he's eating though he's snorting the powder lol... He's a wild one...

Well, I got a rat today for Loki, he was interested knit, however not interested enough in it to eat it without me cutting it up. I gutted the intestines out of it, along with the stomach. He still wasn't sure of it, so I chopped it up and mixed it with some of his chicken and put it into the fridge. I left a piece in his bowl for him with a piece of chicken fat which he loves attached to it. Hopefully he will bite, he's been easy enough with everything else so far I hope this wont be the roadblock. Lol Doomie is eating nuggets of course, he's kinda pushing the zupreem to the side, I do hear him crunching on them now and again though so he might be a slow transition.

Whoo boy was not prepared for that photo LOL. Home sick with some weird flu or something and been puking all morning. Anyhow...
Some ferrets will take food (or treats) out of your hand to be polite and go run off with it, but they'll just stash it to eat later (or not at all) so unless you SEE him eating the zupreem, he may not actually be eating it. Transitioning him to a new kibble while you have the old still to mix is a good idea. You can bag some up together in a zip lock bag or container for a few days to try and mingle the smells.
Let me know how he does with the rat. I'd take everything else away and let him get nice and hungry throughout the day, see if he tries to eat it. Sometimes they just need that little bit of a nudge from their stomach to be more open minded about something new.

Okay, in was a little scared of letting him go hungry for a few hoursm. He always has a supply of meat in there, and he never disappoints in making it disappear... I gave him the legm bith some organs attached, I found it in his bed oartially chew dim but then it looks like he resorted back to a chicken wing lol... And he ate some of the chicken fat and meat, but he did chew some. So I'll let him go hungrynanlittle through the day,NAND see if his tummy brings him around. Sorry about the picture lol I figured you have seen such things, it took me a bit to start cutting into it, he was a cute little guy... I hope that you feel better, the flue was nasty this year...

Yeah I feel a lot better. I don't feed whole prey, too expensive for 9 ferts and difficult to procure here. I've seen my fare share of animal parts and bodies but, never really liked looking at the insides lol. No worries.

He ate most of one leg quarter so far... Which I guess is about 1/4 of the body as a whole... He tends to hide them. I think for a brief moment he's eaten it... Then my dreams crash down. The whole prey is costly... Five bucks for a dead rat lol... However for two ferrets I think having a colony would be viable? Mice or rats it matters not, mice though I think I would rather do. I'm going to read on the mice thing once he starts eating it readily. He'll pick it up and carry it off and hide it then go back for other food. I did let him go hungry a little yesterday and thatis when he made the chice to eat the rat. I gave him another piece last nought, and it was hidden he did eat the chicken that was there though.
Doomie is still eating marshals, but were working on the zupreem switch.

I wouldn't starve him entirely if he really refuses to eat it, let him have something. But it sounds like he'll come around with time. Did you happen to try chopping some of the rat into small pieces and mixing it with some other meats he likes? He might be weirded out by the fur lol.

How small of pieces? Like bite sized? Or maybe shear it with some soup? He ate about 1/4 of the rat, fur and all, but it's like his last resort kinda thing, he had other food the other night but during the day I limited his other food like you were saying.

Yeah, he's street smart enough to eat what's available if it's all he's got, but he's enough of a brat to be fussy. ;p
You could try grinding some up with the soup if this is the first time he's had rat, he might not be used to the taste. Or you could try bite sized bits, or both. Whatever works for you. The more you introduce him to a new thing, the more likely it is he won't balk at it.

I thawed some soup today, I'm going to put some in his bowl with some of the rattie. It does have a smell to it for sure... I smelled it when I was slicing and dicing so maybe that is what's turning him off of it? He's had some chicken ribs and fat today along with about three chicken hearts.
Doomie is transitioning slowly still from marshals to zupreem...

Maybe the smell is getting him. Hard to say with it being entirely new for him. Keep plugging away at it with mr doomie, hopefully he will take to the new kibble quickly.

Hey sorry I thought I had responded yesterday! Loki yesterday ate chicken breast with the bone and fat, along with some venison. Doomie is transitioning further and getting more used to the zupreem it seems, we have it almost at 100% grain free. He'll be going back to the vet for a check up probably Monday or Tuesday.
