Most seem to find New Chapter probiotics helpful. Myself I don't do them while still on antibiotics since they just kill off the probios anyway. Here's one for your vet: voices.yahoo.com/facts-lupron-ferrets-adrenal-disease-7522998.htmlHealthy ferrets can benefit from Lupron. Your pet doesn't have to be diagnosed with adrenal disease to receive Lupron treatments. Veterinarian Kevin Wright at the Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital gives his ferret patients a preventative dose of Lupron at the start of each year to keep the pet's hormone production in check. Doesn't work IMO, but certainly doesn't harm them Here's a convo from the Ferret Health List: pets.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/ferrethealth/message/9149?source=1&var=1And something that first article points out- it had been hopefully considered a preventative to give yearly lupron(didn't work) to hopefully prevent adrenal. The important thing to note is although this didn't stop adrenal from developing, neither did it do any harm at all. Since lupron is used specifically to lower the out of control sex hormones, when those hormones aren't present it simple passes out of their system.

Awesome Sherry, thank you SO much I will absolutely be bringing this up with her...hopefully she'll understand that I'd just rather use the finances I have this month to try and take care of something rather than an 'exploratory' type ordeal... plus I don't think Meeko wold sit still for very long awaiting the US he's just so fragile too Well he just got force fed another bowl and he'll be getting his second dose of amoxy. for the evening very shortly. And as for the pro-bios yeah I wasn't going to run then in conjunction I meant after the cycle, and thank you for the recommendation!

Well on a side note his itching had stopped pretty well, he's now licking himself silly...to the point where its matting down his fur, vet said to calm down on the baths due to possible over production of oils which makes sense for his smell and oilyness.. But this hair matting im guessing ill have to bath again just to help it out.

Why not use a damp washcloth instead? You could even soak the washcloth in the oatmeal bath...

What about making a bag of oatmeal in cheesecloth and rubbing him down with this (damped down of course) ciao

I'm an idiot, I forgot you were that close! If you can drive a bit away, there's vets up in Northern MA who would likely treat for adrenal and start him on lupron I think without all of the testing. This is my old vet, she left her clinic in Nashua, NH and does regular visits to an emergency clinic in Westford, MA. You could try calling them to see when she'll be in next and you should be able to take him in as an emergency walk in. I liked my old vet, didn't agree with us on diet but she genuinely cared about the animals. She is antibiotic happy, but if you tell her you think there's a strong chance he's adrenal and you want to do an emergency trial of lupron she will hopefully do it once she sees what condition he's in. If you see her, tell her Murder's family sent you. westfordveterinary.com/dr-amy-earl/Also if you wanted some sudocrem to try protecting his skin with I'd be happy to give you my jar, would just have to meet you somewhere once the weather clears.

I think Sudocreme could definitely be helpful. I still really think that you should get a sock on him too. Sudocreme under a sock would be even better. He needs to stop scratching it or it will never heal. Poor bud.

Thank you Sherry, again!
So...update, one I apologize for being away, I find myself sick...my stomach is in such pain, oh such aches...
None the less, Meeko.... He's stopped eating now and only will accept food if he is being fed off of my finger...he'll eat mostly his whole bowl..he gets stubborn at the end but he eats the whole bowl, he just WON'T willingly eat at all... so this is superbly depressing. He's also very tired, I mean sleeping mostly the whole day..when he's up his eyes are open nice and wide and he seems to move with the same lethargic shuffle he's always had... so I mean I don' tknow how to take it. BUT! His poops look good alas...
SO here's the kicker, we were supposed to have a vet visit again this wed. but my girlfriend and I opted to NOT do the ultra sound seeing as they required Meeko to be brought in ~8AM and the tech. that does the US would be there between 8-12 and when she was done we could pick him up. Due to his decline in health I don't want to do this nor does my girlfriend as we do all we can just to keep him fed and loved, not saying a clinic wouldn't but...c'mon...
And now the best part! The vet called me about 30 min ago and we just hung up, she's telling me that she Cannot order Lupron for us. The whole bottle would cost the clinic ~1200$ and they don't want to spend it seeing as it'd be just meeko they're treating. We unfortunatly don't have all that money for the bottle so we can't buy it out which is what she offered to me. SO, the vet told me to bring him to Tufts.... I've explained my EXTREME detest for that place, and our 3rd vet told us and pretty much won't treat Meeko anymore because she feels we HAVE to go to tufts..period. The best part is they're 160$ for a exam, just to walk in period. And I asked if we could simply DEMAND lupron and she said most likely not it's tufts "protocol" to do a US or the panel test to make SURE that they're treating the right thing...
I'm sorry everyone but my heart aches hard and my stomach hurts so bad and now we really...really don't know what to do with Meeko. It hurts so much to be put off by a vet and just tossed to another especially in his condition, and to still have to go through most likely the SAME nonsense that we've been through before... 3 times....
Sorry to vent, but there is the latest, Meeko's in bed...surprise surprise...he'll be getting another ~10oz. of food before bed along with his amox....
Thanks all~

This is horrible and so wrong Poor Meeko. Do you have another vet in the area? Someone, who would be willing to actually treat your wee boy...no one buys the whole bottle of lupron anymore. That was something people did years ago. People used to get together and share off. It was actually cheaper to get the surgery done than to use lupron. I don't know how most vets do this now, but my vet can order in single dosages or any dosage required. I requested a double dosage for Captain Jack when I couldn't get the DES implants in time ciao
