YAY - more good news on the Goomba front! He ate 1.5 oz of meat this morning all on his own, and even stashed a piece! He is sleeping in his crinkle tunnel, but when Kpaz tried to pet him he promptly grabbed her hand and tossed it out - which is normal, Goomba-y behavior. Keep it up little Goomba!!!!

Woo Goomba! Still in my thoughts and prayers. I don't have any suggestions though.
Hang in there, Goomba!

I know he isn't through the woods yet, but I am SO glad he is eating and acting more normal!

It does sound like he's coming to terms with the loss of his friend, on his on terms. Hopefully he keeps up with this.

I just want to hug KPaz right now, what a hard year for their house, and poor Goomba. Please let them know I think about them daily and send positive thoughts their way.
In absence of RR, could you use weak chamomile tea to make soupies with? I have some organic locally grown chamomile I use for myself, and if brewed weak it doesn't have much of a flavor that could turn fuzzies off. It knocks me out for bed time so I'd be afraid of ODing a fuzzy but I'm wondering if it could work? Thoughts?
As for antidepressants in cats and dogs, I've used them in the past for my pets with "issues". The dosage is tiny, and in most cases doesn't reach a full effect for several weeks. So I don't know how applicable it would be here since the first few weeks is when Goomba would need it the most. Holistically something like St Johns Wort might be better than traditional medicine to get him over the hump but it can't be used for more than 6 weeks at a time in people, I don't know how that would translate to ferrets with higher metabolisms. Someone with more knowledge than me would need to pipe up.
Be strong Goomba, there is much love left for you on this Earth. And a big crushing bear hug to KPaz.

Just an update. Goomba is still eating, but we are essentially just waiting for him to stop. He ate the first few days after Ellie died and then suddenly stopped. He is getting lots of love and constant attention from Kpaz and her bf. They are trading off snuggling him so that he is constantly with someone. They are petting and kissing and loving on him and talking to him, but she says it's as if he doesn't even notice. He is wandering around a little but not really playing. They went on an errand today and he seemed curious when meeting a new person, but on the car ride he just slept instead of pawing at the cage or lookin out to watch what's going on like he usually would.

He is noticing, that is good. A ferret in the depth of despair notices nothing. He will be changed. I remember describing that a piece of Lady "B" died the day that Attila passed. A part of her never came back. Healing takes time. The mild interest that is something they need to foster. Hopefully, he continues to eat. We're still pulling for him. ciao

Heather's right. When Boris actually gave up he barely even noticed Vincent dragging him by the scruff to the middle of the floor. So showing some interest is excellent.
