Yep! Most definitely it is I finally got mine weaned off the tone to a mix of EVOO(extra virgin olive oil) and triple fish oil, but still keep tone around for if we wind up with any fear biters.

I was always under the impression that fish oil was not good for them & made poo stinky. I'm guessing I'm wrong. Btw, I got a nice scale today.

That's fish in the kibble that does that. The fish oil doesn't.

Ahhh! Gotcha. That makes sense then. I had noticed that the CHP ferret sampler came with salmon bites so I figured some fish must be okay for them.

Lucrezia adores smelts. To the extent I actually have to watch how many I feed her. That is the one food she will over eat on, then gets sick from it She resembles a kid who eats too much cotton candy then, poor mite ;D Athena loves salmon, but only wild cohoe. Of course she'd pick the most expensive one on the market None of our others were ever interested in fish. Have to try the new boys with it yet. So you can definitely add fish to the menu if they'll eat it. I'd only do once a week, simply to keep a good rotation going.

Okay, so tonight Miki & Rascal all took the barf mixture on the spoon without me scruffing them. Bubbles, Fungo, Shiro & Mimiteh all took it on the spoon too. Stewie had to be scruffed. Snickerdoodle was very dramatic about it tonight & it seems like she forced herself to regurgitate it. I didn't add as much water to it as last time, so maybe with her I will need to water it down more. I know she's not sick, because she did it shortly after I gave it to her. She is going to be the one that gives me the most trouble with this change....

Tonight's update: everyone but Snickerdoodle took the mixture from the spoon. I did add more water to it & was able to get her to take a little off my finger after I scruffed her. This time she did not regurgitate it. I put the left over mixture in the cage & Bubbles, Mimiteh (mostly her) & Shiro cleaned the little bowl. I'm really proud of my gang! Even Snickerdoodle & her diva ways.

I'm so sorry- I responded to your previous thread but it never showed. d*mn phones! Anyway- that is excellent progress, and yes, they can force themselves to throw it back up ;D I was always amazed at just how far Boris could actually spit it Alright, since the others are taking it well from the spoon, start teaching them to take it from the dish simply by lowering the spoon to the dish until it's resting in it. Then slowly move it out of the way so they start eating from the dish itself. With little miss priss snickerdoodles, just keep working on her til she's taking it willingly from your finger, then start her with the spoon ;D

Bubbles, Mimiteh & Shiro did not even need the spoon. I put the bowl with them & they went straight for it. Miki & Rascal took a little from the spoon & did sniff the bowl but weren't quite ready for it. I did lower the spoon into the bowl, but they still seem a little apprehensive about the raw. Fungo & Stewie took from the spoon & really wasn't too interested with the bowl. Snickerdoodle had to scruffed still. I did adopted those two boys. They came with Marshall's Chicken kibble. Yeah, they're not getting that. I've given them our mix of Epigen 90 & Evo. I figured I would let them get accustomed to their new surroundings before forcing raw on them. This is their THIRD home this month alone.

Update: doing pretty well with them at least taking it from the spoon. Miki actually licked the mixture in the bowl a little. Then, just for giggles I thought I would see what Stig & Archer thought. Stig took right to it (didn't even have to scruff him!!) & went straight for the bowl. Archer had to do the scruff & sample. What is it with my white ferrets all taking to this new diet easily?! I love it!

This is fantastic! Now you can get the two new boys in line as well Okay, now you need to get them taking it from the dish. I've found the best method for this is to start with the dish on the floor. I sit there with a spoon and start spoon feeding whichever one I can grab, while that ferret is on all fours on the floor as well. Start slowly lowering the spoon to the dish until it's sitting in the dish with said ferret eating from it. When it's close to empty start moving the spoon away WHILE the fuzz is licking at it so they will continue licking from the dish. Do this with each, and if more than one is there, you can alternate who gets the spoon. Also- at this point I'm going to need you to start posting in at least every 2nd or 3rd day so we can keep up the progress and hopefully prevent them from sticking at a single point

Will do. My classes start tomorrow (I also work full time, but I'm a massage therapist so it's not like a 9-5 job) so it might be one of those situations where I post the following morning with updates, but I will do the best that I can with what time I have. It doesn't mean I'm slacking off, it just means I'm busy with my studies or clients.
Btw, I'm still waiting on Stig & Archer's ADV results. Should have them soon. As soon as I get them I will start introducing them (slowly) to the rest of the gang.

Good evening!! Things are still going smoothly. As I drop the spoon into the bowl in most of them at least sniff the spoon & lick it some more. Some are still fighting it, but I'm being very patient but persistent with them. No word yet about the ADV.

ADV came back negative, but Archer is a little under the weather today. He was fine when I got home from a wedding last night (around midnight), but there are some questionable poos. We already have a vet appt on Wednesday so I will definitely have that checked out. He was interested in ferretone so I'm hoping it's something that antibiotics can take care of (I really don't want to have the little guy go through surgery).
Stig is already harassing the girls so he's fine. I'll start moving Stig towards the BARF now which should be easy since he was taking it from me no problem.
