Guys, I'm freaking out! Booth has been home 3 hours. His eye is swollen, supposedly from scratching himself at the vet. It is much much worse. The whole area around his eye is swollen. Visibly so. He has nasal drainage. And he just dry heaved. Called the vet who just says "I can't explain it". And told us unless he is having breathing problems to wait until morning. Wth could this be? I'm so freaking worried!

Do you have baby benedryl at home? He could be having an allergic reaction to something. I think I'd be getting after that vet. Something happened there, and he should have been treated by them. Is there another one you can see? Also, wipe his eye with a simple saline solution. Here's how to make it if you don't have any: www.ehow.com/how_8021635_prepare-saline-solution.html

Sorry- forgot the dosage for the benedryl: Benadryl Children's Liquid 12.5 mg/tsp (5 ml)
Dosage = 1mg per pound
Example: 3 lb ferret needs 3 mg 3 divide by 12.5 = .24
.24 x 5ml (tsp) = 1.2 ml

They put saline on his eye before we left, but that was all. We don't have any benadryl, but I think we will go buy some once we put them up. He hasn't dry heaved anymore, and he is running around and trying to play with the others now.
:/
Thank you for the information, Sherry!

Make sure you get the CHILDREN'S benedryl. The adult version is much too strong for them.

Are there ones to be avoided, such as flavored ones?

I would probably avoid anything flavored.

If possible to avoid the flavoured, then do so, yes.

He just peed and the urine was a light green...
Does that mean it's too late? It's in his liver?
aLso, couldnt get any other benadryl other than bubblegum flavor
I gave him just about .5ml becuase he is currently so underweight
Edit: He started breathing a bit off. Taking in four quick breaths before returning to normal.

The strange thing is, he is the most active today than he has been all week...
The benadryl is already helping his eye. He is no longer squinting. Most likely we will talk to the vet tomorrow about when to let him go. Getting as many pics and videos as I can...

I've always tried to take the tack that if they are still enjoying being a ferret, then it's not yet time. However- with you having to go away for two weeks, is there any way any one can take him in to watch him?

The swollen face is an allergic reaction....the green urine can be from whatever anaesthetic that was used. Don't count your little one down yet. The fact that he's responding to the benadryl points to an allergy. How did he get this scratch? Could he have been smacked by a cat at the vet's? I've seen cat scratches swell up like that, that's why I'm asking. I will light a healing candle but I think your little one has another idea about where this story ends. Good luck, give your wee one a hug from me.... ciao

Heather, thank you. The Bendaryl did help his eye A LOT, but his nose is still very swollen. I am taking him into the vet in a bit when they open.
As for how he got it, I have no idea. They say he probably scratched his eye when trying to wake up from the anesthesia. Also, I was wondering about the anesthesia causing the green urine. I really hope that's the case. I mean, he is still eating, taking treats, sleeping well, and jumping up as soon as I walk near. So I don't think he seems to be in any pain. Just feeling a bit miserable due to the surgery and swollen face!
But my vet's words were "I can't explain it. I don't know why he is having this reaction. It could be the Lymphoma acting up, but I can't explain it." So that was definitely NOT helpful...Unfortunately, she is the only vet near me.
I really do appreciate all the help you guys have been.
