That's good. Yes he may have been excited and just didn't want to eat. Also spoons are magical devices for some reason! LOL!
I'm glad he is eating. Try the slivers idea when you can. Don't be to upset if he doesn't want anything to do with them. This would be a big step. If he doesn't eat them go back to the soupie and keep adding in more slivers every couple of meals.
You are doing great.

He's eaten about 2 and a half ounces now and half a tablespoon worth of slivers. Lol I think you're right spoons have magical powers, strangely! Thank you for the encouragement. I'm trying not to get worried or frustrated as I know this is going to take time, effort and patience. Some things are inevitably going to puzzle me I suppose, being new to all this! xx

I can tell you there was a time in my switch where I thought I would never ever get my oldies to eat chunks. They has been through so much and were both sick that I was sure they would die if I kept pushing them to much. In fact, Riot almost dropped below 2 pounds, albeit, he only weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces now anyways. But we pushed through and there is very little that I put in front in of them that they won't eat.

Boy you must have been tearing your hair out! Well done. I've got to have that same determination now. This is for his health, happiness and longevity even if he doesn't understand xx

I gave him a bowl full of slivers with soupie over it this morning. He are half of it... I'd given him 2 1/2 ounces so he ate about 1 1/4 I think... I'll try the same thing tonight xx

Yes, lots of new gray hairs for sure!
Yay! That is awesome! That is a decent amount for trying something brand new.
Can post a picture tonight? I'm wondering how big the slivers are.

It could definitely use more slivers. Now that we are on this stage, here is what we can do. Every other meal, we want to either up the amount of slivers per soup or up the size of the slivers. So it'll look something like this, on Monday AM, add more slivers and less soup, Monday PM stick to the same thing, on Tuesday AM, make the slivers a little bigger and add them same amount of soup as the day before, Tuesday PM, same thing. Basically we only want to change one thing at time and let him get used to it.
If at any point, he straight up refuses to eat his food. Just take it back to last step and give it an extra day and then try again.
Some of those slivers are bigger which is awesome!
Has he started actually chewing on the slivers yet?

Sounds like a plan it'll be exciting as he slowly gets more and more comfortable with the solid meat. Yes he chews the slivers now. No more spitting out if it's too big. He'll just chew it up. I'll keep you posted on what's happening with his meals. Thanks xx

Today I put more slivers into his morning meal but he didn't eat it. Put the same amount as yesterday this evening. He has eaten a little bit but with both meals he's not eaten more than a few teaspoons. I'll spoon feed him if he hasn't eaten more in an hour or two, and I'll keep the same level of everything tomorrow so he can get used to it.
Weigh day tomorrow so I'll fill out the form then and maybe take pictures of his body condition for you too Xx

Awesome. Yeah, I agree, keep him on this level for a few more meals and then we can try upping it again.

hmmm Leo hasn't eaten much at all today. I've tried encouraging him (warm water, finger/spoon feeding) but he doesn't want it. He's also flattening himself out and looking sorry for himself. Poops are normal... I might take him to the vet tomorrow if he carries on acting strangely. I will weigh him if I can but it seems maybe not the right time at this moment to stick him in a bowl to take his weight xx

Figured out what was wrong with him. He stole a piece of lemon from a bin when someone let him out (they didn't close my door) and I'm pretty sure he ate some of it. He did two big explosive poops after I wrote that last update. One was Green and the other was like yellow water almost like pee. I've given him lots of water but I'm not sure what else to do... Should I still take him to the vet tomorrow? He was fine after the second poop and has eaten a fresh meal I put out for him later. His poop just now was fine also. But I'm a bit concerned. Not a great thing to eat...
