Sorry I didn't see this till now! Yes, eggs are good for hair caught in the throat. You can give him the whole thing next time too.

How is Leo? Has he been eating good? Have you thickened his soup at all or added more slivers? Did the egg help him?

He's ok. He ate 3 ounces tonight. The food is progressively getting thicker... He's been a bit funny about slivers. Sometimes he'll take them and sometimes he won't. The egg did help him. He did a big orange poop afterward which I'm assuming was just from the egg but he hasn't been coughing so all's well. Very playful. I think it helps that the weather has cooled down a bit here too. xx

The weather was super nice yesterday here too. Was even able to take my little guys out to the park.
Yay for thickness. Keep working with him on those slivers. You can hand feed him some of you think it would help. Just hold him in your lap and hand him the sliver. He may be more willing to eat the slicers that way.
How thick would you say the soup is now? Pudding like? Gravy?

Yeah it's good when the weather is nice and he is visibly happier.
Thanks I'll try that. Going to feed him soonish.
The soup is puddinglike at the moment. It sort of holds a shape if I spoon it onto a plate but not to the degree of ice cream if you get what I mean xx

That's a good thickness. I like it when it's able to stick to meat better. Keep trying with those slivers and lemme know how it goes.

He spat them out as I gave them to him... Sometimes he does take them and eats them that's what confuses me. He doesn't particularly like them but eats them regardless. Other times he flat out refuses them.
Will keep trying but it's now 4:38am and I haven't been to sleep yet lol. I'm becoming slightly obsessed it seems! xx

Definitely get your sleep!!
We can always try pushing him. You can make a plate of slivers and then just add a small amount of soup basically just enough to cover the slivers in a layer. This way he can't just eat the soup and fill up and he has to eat the slivers. This is a huge step and we can always try. Sometimes they go right for it. Other times they may need some more coaxing. What do you think?

Yeah I think I'll try that. He needs to start eating slivers so we can get him onto food that will be good for his teeth! He's not even eating soupies right now for some reason. He's playing but hasn't touched his food... Might be preoccupied as I got him a cat tree last night but still it's now 5pm and he's eaten only a few mouthfuls.

When was the last time he ate? Has anything in the recipe changed besides the less water? If nothing has changed hold out for a little while. If he still doesn't eat, add a little warm water and see if you can tempt him.

Nothing's changed except less water. Last time he ate was 7:30 last night... He just took a few licks of soup and lost interest... He's acting fine but not eating xx
Update: my sister is spoon feeding him. He's eating it.

Alright I would try to spoon feed him. Just get a spoon, set him on your lap and feed him from the spoon. He may just be to distracted to eat. Try different methods too, put some coconut oil on it (just a smidge), try to warm it up with a little warm water, re-freshen it completely and try offering completely fresh soup.
Its been nearly 24 hours since has eaten a full meal yes? As long as he is snacking and as at least had something to eat don't freak out yet. Just try to get him to eat a full meal now. Energy levels are good so that is a good sign. Poops are normal?

I'm relieved he's eating off a spoon. Thank you. I think maybe next time I can try offering him slivers the way you suggested (just a bit of soupie).
Yes it was about 24 hours exactly since he last ate a full meal but now he's eaten about an ounce and a half plus a few very small slivers we managed to sneak in. I reckon he was just overly excited by the new toys and forgot he was hungry? I dunno. His poops are totally normal too xc
