The only way I can get metro into my kids mouth is to use pills. My vet cuts them into quarters. Open there mouth and drop it right at the right time so it lands at the very back of their throat. I'd say works 95% of the time and they don't taste it. Way less stressful.

You can also try a burrito wrap to hold him while you dose him with the meds.

You do what you need to do with metro. I had to burrito wrap, tuck bottom between arm and body, lay MY upper body on ferret, and hold head still to get it in. And by the way- whatever they associate with the taste of the metro they won't go near again in most cases.

I have been doing this haha, but hes really smart x-x he pulled his head back to himself and then thrashes and any small give he excapes. I might ask my vet if she has a better way, just anything because he gets really upset and wont even touch ferretvite now because he thinks that if he takes a lick that i will then to the meds again x-x

You found the magic way to get him off Ferretvite. That's a good thing. It doesn't help with the Meds, but you won't have to worry about his asking for Ferretvite.

Definitely talk to her about a different antibiotic. So many vets use it because it works SO well, but sometimes you have to simply give a less effective one for a longer period of time.

I think we need to do that. Ill be talking with them soon as its really hard to have him hold still. He really freaks out and making him into a little wrapped up ferret doesnt help. If anything I think it makes him more upset now. He makes little upset whines, i feel like such a bully x-x In good news his surgery sites are looking really nice

How are is poops looking now? Are they still green? they are much less green this morning and much more solid too! Almost as solid as they were normally , still a little loose haha Good news is i called my vet and she said if its to much for us and herman we dont have to do the meds. He can heal on his own just they would speed it up. So I will be trying to give him at least a little of the meds at least once a day but not stress over it because I think it stresses out herman. After we do meds he doesnt want to play just goes and hides upset about it all. Lucky me he doesnt seem to hate me though, we hung out today and I let him just play around the room and he is starting to be more energetic. Also the room they are in seems to smell kinda bad! Not the normal ferret smell. Do they sweat in the summer? Or anything? It might be because of hermans poops? but im not really sure whats causing the smell =-='''

I'm glad the eat siad you can ease up on the meds and I'm gad you will still try to get some into him anyway and I'm glad his poops are getting better. Yes the smell could be from the littler box. Ferrets do not sweat from what I have read which is why it can be so dangerous for them when it's really hot outside. You may want to do an extra thorough cleaning of their room and litter boxes, never know when you'll find a spot they decided to use instead of their littler box.

His poops looked much more normal today and i think the smell was coming from his poops as it smelled much less when i went in a bit ago ( compared to this morning and such) I will still be keeping an eye on it but he seems happier today and I didnt see teeth gritting or anything. Still gonna try a little bit of meds if I can get them in him with out to much stress ( As I think they effect his poops a bit , thats how bad he hates them meds, really freaks out i feel so bad) He even looked like he wanted to play with Lafayette today but we arnt quite there. His belly wound has a bit more healing to do before I will allow them to try it. As for the hot thing, there room doesnt get to hot but i worry anyways, on hot days any tips on helping to keep the cage cool? ( I heard of putting tiles in the freezer and changing those out might be good) Mostly anything they dont need watching to have? I dont worry to much about herman chewing more Lafie haha

We have ac in our house but their room and our bedroom still gets warmer then the rest of the house. We do have a fan in each room and I don't think I'll need to try either of the above tricks but you never know.

My vet doesn't push when she hears "no metro". She is the one who told me if it gets too stressful it can CAUSE ulcers

My vet doesn't push when she hears "no metro". She is the one who told me if it gets too stressful it can CAUSE ulcers Yah I took to stopping. I tryed one last time and he, like it really stresses him out, he freaks out and doesnt even want to be out in the room after, he just goes into his pineapple to hide. So even though i want him to feel better sooner, i think it is better to watch him closely and just stop the meds. I dont wanna make him more upset.

By the way Hermans cuts are almost finished healing! They look great and today he was much happier then yesterday. His poos look a little odd still, if they keep up ill likely ask the vet for ideas ( hopefully not the medication , but if so, I will do what needs to be done)
He Let me hold and scratch him for a while, and seemed happy, I didnt notice any teeth gritting while holding him or really any at all so thats good!
