His poops was back to the slightly more solid looking poop this morning. I am hopeful its passing and that it was just some kinda one day upset bowels or something ;u;''
He was more active this morning then last night and because he is walking much better then before and his wounds are healed up enough i put his shelf back in his cage (its low enough that if he fell off he would be fine)

I hope it was just a 24 hour thing too. I'm so excited he is healing well though. Won't be long now until you can let him play with Laffie! Have you noticed anymore teeth grinding? There are a few reasons they grind their teeth pain being a very common one.

There are a few reasons they grind their teeth pain being a very common one. It was the first time i heard him grind his teeth and i think it was because i was holding him and he climbed up my shoulder and his front legs slipped down my back putting all his weight on his belly cut. (i heard it and quickly moved him on my lap and then he wasnt doing it so i think hes ok and it just hurt because he slipped and kinda thumped on my slightly bonely should haha) Im so excited for them to get to play sometime soon. Still waiting for herman to heal up and everything but lafie is always dooking when he goes near Herman's part of the cage ( Trying to wake him up and pull out the blankets) Of course i will be watching them both closely when i let them out. I really hope it was just a little bug kinda thing and hopefully by tonight his poops are back to normal! it would be really great if they where haha. >u<

Grinding his teeth could mean he is in some pain. Ferrets hide their pain and illness. If he isn't feeling well, he more likely will want to lay around in a quiet spot away from everyone. Does Herman have a follow up visit planned. Are his ears, nose and paws pale or a nice pink. How about his eyes, are they squinty? Why don't you call the vet and ask about the poops and the teeth grinding. Herman has been thru so much. I'll be so relieved when he is settled in and feeling well. He is such a sweet boy.

I posted before I saw page two. I would still call the vet and just ask if he needs a followup. No one feels too good after surgery, so hopefully he just was in a recovery mode.

Update!!
Ok so we got some medication for herman! We think it may be some tummy/colon upsetness/ulsters and this stuff should help him feel better. He is to take it twice a day for 10 days and hopefully his poops will start to look better soon she said.
The dr was really nice and only charged us for the meds not for the appointment ( Which normally they do haha) She told me he his wounds are looking really good and that i was doing great with them. ( As i got the one on his foot to scab over really well, and got him to leave it alone completely. So now its like really healing up good) Haha so i guess you can say shes proud of me!
I think ive only had herman for three weeks? haha poor guy is gonna make me broke! But its worth it, he can walk better because of the surgery we got him and hopefully these meds help get him feeling good and in less pain too.
This medication taste pretty bad i was told so any ideas on how to help get him to eat it? I was told i could mix it with some baby food chicken, but he is on kibble, so is that ok to do? It wouldnt be a lot but i dont wanna make his tummy and bowels more upset yah know?
;u; Ugh at least i know how to help him haha, wish me luck. ( And herman! Poor guy is exhausted )

I have yet to try to give him any oils, any suggestions on oils i can try giving him with this stuff ( It even smells kinda nasty haha) The vet told me to try baby food chicken so i think oils would be ok too haha Ah thank you! Im def trying to , i havnt had either very long but i love them a ton ( And they really help with my depression which just makes me love my silly cat-snakes more haha) Tryed giving him his meds as is, it was like i have him a lemon to lick, he was not happy about it and it took us a long time to get most of it into him x-x'' ( With a bit of spilliage here and there as he would pull away at the last second, and then i would try to save it on my finger and he would lick it and get grossed out omg it was so bad) He does not enjoy this stuff haha so it will be a struggle until i can mix it with stuff he likes x-x going to the grocery store tomorrow it looks like haha

If you have extra virgin olive oil you can try that. Many here use salmon oil, I myself am still working on my ferretone supply but will be switching to a salmon oil I think when that has dwindled, I give it so rarely that I only worry a little about the bad stuff in it, even when I was switching them I really only had to use it a few times and only a few drops to get them to eat. You will want to find out what their "crack" is soon enough anyway. Others use coconut oil also. Try the EVOO by itself first then see if he likes it and then sneak in his meds to that. Only need a little to make it work I think. Also oil on a regular basis may effect how his poops look too so don't be alarmed but you know you can always ask if you get worried.

He is not having it with me today so far haha, just spent an hour and a half trying to get him to have some of the 0.4 meds he is suppose to have this morning. I think i only got about 0.1 into him...
He hates the extra virgin olive oil lol, tryed to mix it with egg, no sale. Tried mixing it with duck soup. Nope. Tried mashing up the treats he likes and do that. Nah. Even tryed to mixe with ferretvite which does not mix well at all and he still wouldnt lick at it!
This is going to be really hard x-x''
He HATES This medication!! He actually hides under his green pineapple hiddie hut! Its really cute but ugh i feel so bad for him.
I tryed scruffing him and getting it into the corner of his mouth but he is really good at getting away from my hold.
I think ill need to try this with my dad tonight, me holding herman and him slowly getting that stuff in his mouth.
Gonna go to the grocery store and get chicken baby food. Any other suggestions?
I gotta give herman some props for being so nice about me man handling him so much. I feel bad trying to scruff him, and i always worry im holding him to hard x-x but he didnt hiss or bite at me once this morning and I called it quits when he was getting stressed out ( And myself too, i accually have a horrible stress tummy ache right now because i dont want him to not get meds but i worry im stressing him out to much) Ah hes so good though.
If anything is there any way to force him the meds? In a safe and like not hurting him way? He is grinding his teeth again today so i know hes hurting . The good news are his poos are getting harder, and he took a slightly normal ish one today.
As a side note i did give herman lots of scratches and kisses while i tryed this trying to keep him calmer, i think it helped? He is sleeping now, i think i tired him out with my persistent haha

Having your Dad help will make it easier. I found that Paul was better at administering medicine than I was. I would hold Ponce and Paul would give him the Meds. Mine hate extra virgin olive oil. Try regular olive oil. What worked for us, was to syringe up a little water first and then syring the right amount of medicine into the syringe. The first taste is water and then comes the Meds. Have another syringe ready with more water and give him a taste of water after the Meds, to wash away the nasty taste. His Meds can be compounded with a flavor, ask your vet. Ponce preferred chicken flavor. You may be able to mix a small amount of the baby food with the right amount of the Meds in the syring. Baby food is a little thicker, so either get a bigger syringe or cut the tiny part so it is bigger. Take it slow and steady and allow him to rest a little between syringing. Just about 20 seconds or so and that helps. Give him lot's of comforting soft words and hugs. Be careful not to go to fast and aim the syring at the farthest corner of his mouth, so he doesn't aspirate as it goes down his mouth. Here is a link with some advice from Hurricanekatt: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/13874/give-ferrets-difficult-medicationsI know this is hard for both of you. You're doing well though and so is Herman.

I'm guessing the med is metro? That stuff is HORRIFIC to try to give to ferrets. If you having a really hard time even with the advice in hurricanekatt's post then talk to your vet. There is a transdermal version of metro out but your vet might have to order it.

Yah i might have to talk to my vet about it because the only way we can get him to take all 0.4 of the stuff is for me to hold him between my legs and hold his head in place while my Dad squirts a bit in. He acts like i put acid in his mouth! And he really hates it and trys to get away and i feel horrible about having to hold him in place but nothing, and i mean nothing we mix it with or anything else works
x-x'' its a real pain... And im almost positive hes gonna end up biting me... which i cant blame him for but still, i rather not get my fingers bitten by him haha.
I do let him run around for a few minutes between squirts in his mouth, some water and ferretvitte too ( i know its bad for them but he like freaks out for a lot longer if he doesnt get something yummy to get rid of the taste and nothing else interests him nearly as much.
