I have done blanket rides. they play king of the blanket. they hop on the blanket and hang on for as long as they can until another ferret jumps on and knocks them off. this goes round and round until I am exhausted and have to stop.

Toys are stashed and primarily only allowed out to be relocated to another location, usually by Loki. Also I was able to get a carpet tube that the boys love to run through. My boys are big into scratching. So I bought some scrap carpet that they can scratch to their hearts content. Since the section was too long for the area I needed, I rolled up the extra end to make another little play area for them. Along the idea of towel rides, I will wave a towel or small blanket at Loki and he gets a kick out of jumping on it, biting it, and wrestling with it. Or I will cover him with it and then hand wrestle with him through it. Those games tend to be too much for Liam. He prefers me acting in some role or chaser or chasee in their morning romps. Or acting as his personal chauffeur when walking becomes too grueling for his delicate ferret sensibilities.
