I know it is only good to wash them once a month max. I don't plan on washing him anytime soon but when I do I was wondering what is a good shampoo for my ferret? When I bought him the woman at Petco helping me out recommended Marshalls Tea Tree shampoo and now I am hearing all these bad things about it . Fortunately I haven't used it yet and I could take it back but, I'm not sure if I threw out the receipt *. I was thinking maybe aveeno?
Has anyone heard or tried this product 2in1 Squeaky Clean??
Thanks!

U should only bathe in very warm water once a yr or less and NO SHAMPOO unless it is organic baby shampoo if they get in poo. U can probably find a recipe online.

Anything that says it is for ferrets kills ferrets

Ok that's a little dramatic. @choy0s I've had success with the unscented Dr. Bronners. It's relatively inexpensive and it's what the humans in my household use too every fert is different, but try not to wash more than once a season. They're smell gets worse if you bathe them too often

Here is a thread that discusses some good shampoos. Regular bathing will strip your ferrets natural oils and dry out their skin. So, unless they get into something nasty, try to avoid regular bathing. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/16808

I haven't used any soap or shampoo on my ferrets and I've had them for 9 months, but I give them a water-only bath every now and then.

So is it bad to let your ferret splash play in water? My ferret LOVES when I turn the bath tub tap on and he washes himself in the water stream... should I only allow this on occasion even if it's just water??

If it's just water, they can play in it every day if they want. Some ferrets love water.

Thank you all! I am saving the bath for worst case scenarios if he gets into something unpleasant.. He already got a taste of being in the water it was by accident though (giggle) I was showering and I had him in the bathroom running around and he was curious about the bath tub then before you know it I was bathing with a ferret

The previous owner of my annabelle said she would get in the shower with her, but i will not let her in the shower with me because ,when i first got her,she was a biter... still do not have the nerve to do it. My Didi liked getting in the shower (DIP). Once she got so excited, she came out of the stall and and bit me right on top of the boney part of foot . I think she hit a nerve, because I felt a little jolt of electricity

I never bathe unless they get into something.
Their fur looks so nice why would I want to ruin that.
And I like the smell of my ferrets.
Most of the smell can be controlled with keeping their ears clean.
when they were on Kibble I had to clean ears weekly and they were Nasty, On raw I clean them every couple of months and there is hardly any thing in there.

Personally, I don't touch Piper's ears. She only has problems with them when I "clean" them. Whenever we go to the vet she is free of problems, so I figure they're better off the way they are.

Plain water works on poo, just don't let it set because it takes longer to dissolve. Whatever doesn't dissolve comes off in the towel dry. Odds are you'll never have that problem. Ferrets tend to keep themselves pretty clean. That's why they groom themselves so much. The First Rule of Ferret Hygiene is: Keep their bedding and litter boxes clean and you won't smell hardly anything.
If you must put something in a bath, use Colloidal Oatmeal. The ferret probably won't mind it and it will lessen dry skin itchiness caused by bathing.
