@boojum01 first off, I love your username, it's simply adorable. Second, can I make a colloidal oatmeal bath for her just like I would for myself- grinding oats in the blender, and tying off the powder in a stocking?

My ferret always smells of fresh laundry, has soft silky fur and she's never had a bath. Only water play and sometimes a quick rince if needed. No shampoo! She does love water though, sometimes I think I bought home an otter by mistake

Alex, I use Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath packets, so if it's the same... there ya go. I just put the oatmeal in the water and let him get wet in it. I only do it because I have to keep him clean and it's such a job. I never used to ever give my boys baths, didn't need to. But anyway, have a towel or towels ready for the crazy ferret dryoff routine. Some ferrets will burrow into any soft cloths to dry off and then wardance and run and jump on you. It's a silly ferret thing.
Thanks about the name, it's from Lewis Carroll.

I only bath my girls once every 6 months. And that's if I think they need it. I do use a ferret shampoo. I have used the the same shampoo for years with no complications. I also leave a small tray of water in my outdoor enclosures as pheonix loves to swim. She's like a little otter. If I ever clean then I just use an alcohol free baby wipe and just wipe them down. This will remove any dirt as long as it's not dried in completley.

In our country the best shampoos are not available, we used from Cunpic. Rarely wash them, have provided containers with water where their will if they dive or not, can often plunge and dive head per well if you put them in the bath immediately flee outside, thus it is less stressful and bathe when they were will. The shampoo is used only if you are walking in a dirty mud. At the time of change of hair one know how often clog the pores on the tail by a one week wash only tail shampoo for intimate care until his hair starts to grow again, but the most often it is two or three washes. My boys love playing in a bowl with water and when we play in their foot bath are happy

I bathe my ferrets once a year, and that's only if they seem like they need it. If they get messy, which hasn't happened since I create their feeding den, I'll wash them or just wash the area that's messy. I use Nature's Miracle gentle puppy shampoo and conditioner.

I know most stuff that say ferret on them aren't good, but is the tea tree shampoo really that bad? I haven't heard anything about it and it's what I have. I've only used it once, and I don't plan on giving her a bath anytime soon, but should I just throw it out then?

Don't use tea tree shampoo on them. It tends to have essential oils which are harmful to ferrets and they have such sensitive noses. You really shouldn't need to shampoo them but if you must, use something very gentle. Check out Sherry, Hurricanecat, Heather, or any of the admin folks by doing a search or pm'ing.
