Slightly better luck this time.
I have the smaller quail chunky grind and put some over and in a few of the actual quail pieces about 1-2 inches. I put some knife lines to create an opening to put the quail they are used to in it.
They took a few forced scruff bites and licked at it abit and continued licking after their ground quail was gone so at least they touched ithe whole prey quail bits before being freaked out by it lol

haha smart little bratz they will eat, don't worry. this is a very good start if they ate those pieces 1-2 inches big, that's great!!!

Keep forgetting about updating haha. So I tried a some full sized quail thigh pieces de feathered and they didn't do much with them before leaving them on the plate , but as I was watching tv I see Brooklyn happily run off with a thigh and start crunching away under the bed. Then I distracted her when I looked under the bed, and she wouldn't go back to it

i'll remind you every few days it is a good step for Brooklyn, a step forward! when Harry sees her crunching the bones, it'll be a motivation for him too. just keep offering. this is great!

here's reminder again :heehee: you haven't been posting their weekly menu recently. is that all the same or you tried something else? It's about the same, the quail each time has been their old grind but a tad more chunky mixed with a few pieces of the whole quail.

The one thing I tried a couple days ago was to give them the whole quail egg and see what they do with it. They were interested but couldn't figure it out so I had to crack it a bit so the egg would start leaking out . They locked at it for awhile before harry took it and crunched it more.
I was surprised by how long it kept them occupied with it haha .
I think I will also try another mouse soon to see if I can get them to take some. Also I will keep trying the quail pieces and hopefully they keep progressing with that.
Do you have a feeding den you use for them to not carry food under the bed?

Quail eggs are great, especially in the shedding season. i give mine twice a week 1 egg per ferret. all of mine are having problems with whole eggs, they're trying to stash it under the sofa, not to eat LOL and they can really be occupied with it for a such a long time try with the mouse again, maybe they will start to see it as a food. i bought a whole baby rabbit for mine (17 oz, aprox.), will try to give them tomorrow and can't wait for the result! hope they will go for it in a second since the rabbit meat is their favorite. i had lots of problems with stashing the meat before, they used to hide it very well (even INSIDE the sofa), and i would find it when it started to smell really badly. my whole house had smell of rotten meat. i knew i have to change something. so i started to give them their meals only in the cage. when they are out to play i am preparing their meals, and when it's time to go into the cage i put the meal inside and close the entrance. in the cage is one angular litter box where they eat. it's in the darkest part of the cage and they love to eat there. it looks something like that: www.pet-centar.hr/detalji_proizvoda.6f357360e9aa45ecb6061d05c025c196.karlie-kutni-wc-za-male-glodavce-16x12x8-cm-razne-boje.aspxi even posted a photo on FB page recently with Malak making a chicken tower in his "litter box" which is actually their feeding den

I think I seen your litter box feeding pic on facebook haha. I will think about cage feeding, but I would probably prefer to just sit with them and watch them closer than before and see how that goes. Harry willingly ate his own quail bones and crunched them by himself the last couple times They are now both willingly eating more by themselves, especially at night while we sleep, including about 3/4 of goat / rabbit. I think harry is getting a tad bigger while Brooklyn is getting slimmer. I will thaw out a mouse for tomorrow night and see how they do. I love that the weather has finally broke. They were out in the yard for about ten minutes today and another 15 minutes on the porch.

Bravo Harry! we have a bone cruncher here! that is a great news!!! it's time for him to show Brooklyn how to do it they will maybe eat more if they have a quiet and dark plase to hide with the food. that works for lots of ferrets, you should try. that corner litter pan is practical and easy to clean. i even have something like this (plastic), but the hole is too small for my males and it takes so much space in the cage so i moved it out. iki-shop.rs/kucica-za-hrcka-cetvrtasta.html

That looks like it would be a perfect feeding den!
Thawing out another whole quail and mouse now.
For the mouse, would it work if it were tied to a string and put in motion like a chaser toy?
