yeah, it's much easier when you don't have to make an effort while eating. but they will learn you just have to be persistent and start with proteins they like.

So we had a slight scare last night. I found an eraser that Brooklyn had taken out of a pencil and was playing with it. It didn't have anything missing, but just teeth cuts through it.
Then I noticed my new Xbox one headset that was on a window sill they don't have access to was just a wire Hanging down.
I found the piece that connects to the controller and she must have just wanted it because the wire was sliced clean off and I made sure that the two sides matched up again.
She doesn't seem to be having a blockage or anything like that and is acting normal.

OMG, that IS scaaary! hope she'll be fine. blockage is very dangerous. i saw they ate chicken, pork and bigger heart slivers. how did that go? are their poops ok after the chicken and what about the pork?

They are liking pork more now as well as the chicken.
Harry's poops seem to be good enough under chicken, but Brooklyn is definitely reacting bad with diarhea to it.
In other news we tried goat a few times. We had to put salmon oil mixed in to get them to eat it, but harry doesn't need salmon oil with it anymore it seems, but Brooklyn does.
The heart slivers that size they will not eat unless it is hidden in turkey. Otherwise they have to get force fed 90% of the heart.

still, it's great progress!
you should stop giving chicken to Brooklyn if she react bad on it. it will irritate her intestines.
it's great they like pork more, it's going to be the same with the goat. it's the taste they need to get used to.
is the quail still minced and are all proteins in their weekly menu commercial raw? or you menaged to found some in the store?

The quail grind had been small ground up while quail from the Asian market, which I am currently out of. All of the grinds are commercial raw from my pet carnivore, with hearts being from hare-today. I believe they have duck and chicken hearts at the Asian market as well. With the whole prey quail and mice from rodent pro , I finally got one of those "ulu " knives people have been talking about but have not tried it yet I am planning on doing a ground up run with mice and to divide the feathered quail into a bunch of cube like pieces to start them out on.

1st attempt didn't go well. I cut up a quail into roughly 2-3 inch pieces, They just looked at me like I was crazy. Even with some scruff attempts, they kept their mouth shut. Should I try to pour some salmon oil onto the pieces?
Also, keep or de-feather?
I need a plan lol

try without feather untill they start to eat bigger pieces. you can put some salmon oil on it to encourage them to eat. if the pieces are too big for them, slowly increase the size. you can always put few bigger on a side, maybe some of them would try.

2nd attempt ended up slightly better. Got them to lick it a few times with the salmon oil in it, but that's about it. Tried a featherless piece and a feathered one. They are still looking at me strange lol.
I think I am going to go to the Asian market to get some smaller quail to grind up and maybe place some inside the whole quail and see if that works.

That's a great idea. maybe it will work. how big were those pieces you gave them? you'll see, you'll have to find a way that works best for your fuzzies. they are all different and something that works for mine doesn't have to work for someone elses. if they eat grinded quail with bones, that's great. you can chop up just slightly bigger pieces. and start from there once they start to eat the bone, they will easier accept whole prey. but who knows, it's possible they will grab it and start to chew.
