Well I've decided that I am going to call my vet tomorrow and see about increasing Bella's pred. I can't seem to get her any higher than 2.5 (45) I've been feeding her every 3 hours today and will feed her every 4 during the night. It sure makes me feel like I'm not succeeding at making her better.

Sounds like she would benefit from maybe doubling her dose. It's really not about keeping her dose low as it is just keeping her stable and happy. Once you reach a max for her weight you can start Diazoxide, it's a last ditch drug generally because of it's high price. My Neichei took it in her last 6 months and it raised her BG 20+ points (talking about a ferret who has had Insu for over a year and never been above 35)
My Juliet was 1.6 lbs and her max dose was 1.8 ml twice daily. But the suspension matters in figuring the max dose, my Pred is 5mg/ml suspension. Some are lower, some are higher.
I'm sorry you're having trouble getting her BG to raise, I know how hard it is but just have hope she will start feeling better. When we changed my Juliet's dose from 0.3 ml to 1.0 ml her BG went from 65 to 117. But that was a large increase when she had her seizure and we couldn't get her stable again. So dose really dose help a lot.

Thank you Emily. My prednisolone is 5mg/5ml
I'm definitely calling my vet tomorrow to get an increase. From what I understand she is on the lowest dose.

You are doing great! Bella now has a dedicated mom who is working hard to make sure she feels better, and we've seen her BG going up...even if it is going up slowly. Having sickies can be so overwhelming at times but you've definitely stepped up to the challenge.

Well today was BG testing and weight. Bella's BG is at 48.6 (2.7) after not eating for 4 hrs. I think I'm going to take it in another hour and see where it is at. Her weight is the same at 1 lb 10oz. She is still more active than she was before. I now will let them out to roam the house with supervision of course, and she goes all over the place.
Mia's BG...WOW!! Not sure if something is wrong, but it's at 147.6 (8.2) Is that normal??? Now she did eat twice this morning....once at 7:30 and again at 8:30 eating a total of 1.4oz. Her weight has not changed either at 1 lb 13oz.
I just took Bella's BG again and it is at 63 (3.5) and that's 2.5 hours after eating.

It's getting better, yay! Mia's BG, haha yeah sometimes they can be that high. Usually they remain in the 90's - 100's but I wouldn't worry about it or anything. Diabetes isn't common and isn't a concern unless it's over 200 I think.
63 is good too, lets try and see if we can get her into the high 70's at least. That's not a bad reading for an insulinomic. What is her pred dosage? Have you been able to get Lupron/Des for Bella yet?

Bella is on 1ml/day and I spread it out every 8 hours instead of every 12 hours. My vet wants to stabilize her BG before we do anything else. Her BG was in the 80s last week

Bella is doing good. She is more active, still sleeps alot, but she is a ferret lol She hates the meds, but I get it in her. I wish Mia wasn't so rough on her...when they are out and about, Mia is after her most of the time, she bites at her neck and at her crotch to the point that Bella whimpers. How is Caillou doing?

Cai is rough on them too, he did that to Jules usually in hopes of making her feel better I think. Jules was 7 yrs and had adrenal, insulinoma and Lymphoma and Cai was 4-5yrs and was healthy then, before Marcie came he would grab Jules and drag her around by her scruff.
Cai is doing worse since decreasing his dose from twice a day from once a day unfortunately. Chewing more, sleeping more, moping around, etc. My vet should be calling me back today or tomorrow and we will increase his dose back up. His BG has also dropped since the decrease, we've recently found he is Insulinomic. So 4 hr feedings and BG checks bi-weekly. 1 hour after eating while being on pred for 2 weeks it was 86 mg/dl. Not the worst reading but it should have been higher. Right now we are pretty sure he has an autoimmune disease causing chronic gingivitis that likely will never go away, and insulinoma, suspected lymphoma and peptic ulcers. But, despite all of this he is better than before, and I'm hoping with his Pred increase we can get him to feel like playing again. He will be 6 yrs in a couple months, so I'm just hoping for more good time with him.

I read that Cai's pred was increased. That's a great start there.
It's so hard when they're sick, they seem to be a sick species. However I guess if we get them from babies and start them off on RAW right away it must make a big differences.
My next one is going to be from a reputable breeder and it will get a great start at life right from the beginning.
Cai is very lucky to have you xo

Hopefully will start feeling better soon, had a dose last night and then this morning so today is our starting day. My next fert will be in several years, after college probably, from a breeder also. 2 with Lymphoma, 3 with Insulinoma, 1 with Adrenal, out of 5 ferrets, going into college in 3 years, I won't be adopting anymore until I've got everything more together. Thank you How is Bella doing today?

Bella is doing good today. Sometimes I wish she would eat more but I make sure she eats regularly to keep her BG as stable as I can. I've been letting them run free through the house, but I don't want them going into the basement as we are under renovations down there, so hubby is going to make me another gate. Then I could let them run all over the place. I find that they stay awake longer when I let them do that.
