This morning, I found a piece of rubber from a small dish. The rubber had been taken off of a dish that was in the sink. I found Mika and Keller in a drawer with small pieces everywhere and a quarter of the rubber gone. This is what's left of the rubber ring: So, I had canned pumpkin and vaseline and began the protocol. This is not easy, as I have always suspected. There was pumpkin everywhere, spitting and gagging, struggling and some very P'offed little girls. I tried a spoon and a syringe and finally got their first tablespoon in each of them. Now we are waiting for the timer to announce that it's time for vaseline. They're going to be so happy about that, NOT! Has anyone else had an easier time, any suggestions? Wish us well, both Paul and I are going to need a shower before this is over. I'm hoping the girls will have eaten less than I think, but I have already seen some pink from last night's poops.

Oh no! I know how scarey blockage suspecting can be. I had to add salmon oil (more than I should've) to the canned pumpkin before I got Caillou to eat it, and he got several tbsp's of it that one day. He liked the vaseline better so maybe your girls will too. Yesterday when I thought Cai may have eating some stuffing or fabric I watered the pumpkin down and syringed it to him, which he hated, but he doesn't wiggle a lot when scruffed. 8 syringe fulls but we got it in him. How much do your syringes hold? My biggest one goes up to 1tsp (5ml) and smallest is 1ml. Can you mix it with some soup? I know Mika is on frankenprey but will she still eat some soupy? I did that with Juliet, she ate fine, but she is weird about different foods, some things are fine with and others would vomit after tasting a drop. I hope they're okay keep up posted Stef

Thanks @julesalot. It is scarey.
I'm hoping the vaseline will go down easier, at least there is less of it. The syringe won't hold the whole tablespoon, but we filled a tablespoon and syringed until it was gone and then added a little extra for all the pumpkin that landed everywhere but in a ferret.
Mika is on raw and so is Keller. I do supplement Keller's diet with FDR, until she is eating bone, but mostly she eats what everyone else does.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you have to go through this! Hopefully the blockage protocol will be enough, and they won't need any further care. It looks like they nibbled it into tiny pieces which might be easier to pass. Good luck and good courage and keep us updated. It must be so hard to do to your babies, even though you know it's best for them.

Mine seem okay with vaseline, it's a little thick so they make that weird chewing face and it can take a while for them to get used to it but picky Cai will eat anything with some oils drizzled over it. That's good that Keller's on raw! I think the pumpkin was just kinda traumatic since they never had it before, maybe they won't make such a fuss in the next pumpkin round. Maybe you can give them the pumpkin then give them a treat they love? *positive reinforcement* ferrets are really smart so I think they might pick up on that quickly. Hopefully you won't need to do many rounds, if they're already passing some pieces you think. Just try not to get TOO worried, it's awful just waiting and waiting for them to pass the big orange pumpkin poop but you gotta have hope that they will. ... ferrets and rubber, gotta hate rubber.

Oh no... they never give us a break, do they? Slinkee LOVES the blockage protocol.. pumpkin and vaseline taste yummy to him & he just eats it straight off the spoon. Minnie is another story. There is no easy, mess-free way to get it down her, so I know what kind of mess you're facing. Hopefully, the next go-round will be easier, but I seriously doubt it. (I know THAT'S not what you were wanting to hear, lol) Crossing my fingers that it all comes out with no problems! Hugs to the babies and to you and Paul.

Thanks everyone. This has turned out to be quite a circus. Keller is okay with the vaseline, and seems to like the pumpkin. She doesn't like being held tight however, and it looks like I waited too long to clip her nails. Mika is a wiggle worm and furious with us. She doesn't like the pumpkin or the vaseline, and if looks could kill... We have seen two pumpkin colored poops already. No pieces in the poop (dance) but that's alot of rubber missing. Anyway, I know have a much better understanding of how difficult life is for those Ferrents with Chewers (especially like a Koda), right katt.

Keller reminds me of Juliet on not liking to be held tightly, yeah, I gotta keep her nails trimmed down low or I wouldn't have skin on my arms. Yay for poop!!!! :goodjob:
Yes, chewers are hard, very hard. I also have a huge respect for Katt on this too. Mine have only recently took up chewing in the last few months, phew, Koda, you cause your mom lots of scares! Rubber is a favorite, maybe they stashed some somewhere, have you looked for it? Sneaky little buggers! It's hard to find mines stash and I just have them in one room, Miss Keller and Mika had the WHOLE house, treasure hunt!
I wonder what got into them to make them chew all that, silly girls. We sure can go crazy when together (giggle)

Smear the pumpkin on their faces / noses so they have to lick it off. Usually they like the taste as it is slightly sweet.

Blockage protocol is new to me, what does it entail? I have been lucky to not have to have run into this before.

Artemis is a very big baby and only likes her pumpkin in a syringe when she has to have it, but if she is being especially grumpy she likes to lick scoops of the pumpkin off my fingers kinda like mashed in between them, its very gross but its the only way, and i always bring an old towel and lay it across my lap when feeding them stuff like this, it helps if you sit on the floor aswell, best of luck and i hope all is well!

If you know or suspect that your ferret has eaten something he shouldn't have, you can push pure canned pumpkin and plain vaseline until you get gloopy orange poops. The pumpkin helps push things through and the vaseline greases the way out, lol. It's one tablespoon of pumpkin, one teaspoon of vaseline on alternating hours.

So far, so good. Mika and Keller are now okay with the pumpkin, just okay. I took @julesalot advice and added a little warm water. That seemed to make them like the pumpkin a little better.
Keller just licks and licks until everything is all gone. She makes the funniest faces and I think she thinks "okay, let's just get this over with".
I have to wake them up each time and there is always a big sigh and then they realize what's going to happen and I get wiggle worms. We've done four rotations and I'll wait a little while and see what comes out. I've searched the stash spots and haven't found any other pieces. So, fingers crossed that I've missed a big piece and it's not in some little tummy.
